Well, since LSU has moved motor homes into my lot, it has royally fricked up the tailgating experience, As a result, the only negative about day games would be that it is sometimes hot in the stadium. I do like to get on the road at a reasonable hour, though.

The one good thing about early kickoffs like this is you still have time to do other shite after the game.
Like what, get a DUI?

I jest, though. I grew up watching LSU at night, under the lights, and it just doesn't feel right watching the QB and receivers having to squint in sunlight. It also feels to me that they don't seem to play as, uh, "comfortably" in day games as they do at night. But maybe that's just nostalgia-tinted reading glasses....

ESPN/ABC has made night games undesirable to me. The broadcasts take so damn long, by the time a 6:30 game ends its damn near midnight and with my work schedule it makes those sundays that much more of a pain, but that’s just my personal preference.

I totally agree. The enshittification of CFB in general has damn-near gotten out of hand.

IMO, the only reason the networks keep doing it is because most viewers are at home, comfy and well-lubricated on their own couch in front of a 4K HDTV. Most of those viewers skip past the commercials anyway, which drives the networks to pause play for MORE commercials. The end result is one of the main things killing the in-game experience of attending a CFB game in person (regardless of what time it starts).

Actually i think they have fared well lately playing during the daytime. But nothing like our record at night especially at home.

As I've gotten older, I do love a 230 kickoff. Get out a few hours before kickoff; game ends and it's dinner time. Elite.

This. I have become very fond of the 2:30 kickoff in the last several years. Esp once I passed my mid 40s.

Well we haven’t exactly lit the world on fire this year during night games. Maybe this changes that

because we get to add all of our layup non-conference games to the games at night statistic.

Yup. Our day/night winning percentage versus Top 25 and SEC teams is nearly identical.

Hate hate 11 am starts. 2:30 isn’t bad, some advantages there.

Several stats back up the argument of us playing better at night.
Show us the stats in day games, also show us the stats as the stats in hames that we are favored to win vs us as underdogs. And if we’re being really fair about it, show us the stats vs power conferences only.

I hate them at HOME in September/early Oct simply because of the heat. Especially since I sit on the East sideline. I'm indifferent about day games on the road.

11 sucks b/c we have a soccer game at 11:00, and lacrosse at 2:00.

It does seem like we don’t play as well in the first quarter of day games, especially morning games. Takes a few series to get warmed up/awake.

Years ago we had a bad record in day time home games. In recent years seems like we have a better record in day games than night games.

That being said, I sure love the night games

Part of the lore of Tiger Stadium is the tradition of playing games at night, an idea that was introduced in 1931 versus Spring Hill (a 35-0 LSU victory). Since that first night game in 1931, LSU has played the majority of its games at night and the Tigers have fared better under the lights than during the day.
CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd wrote in October 2009 of LSU’s fabled night history, “It has turned the knees of All-Americans to goo. It has caused coaches to lose their coaching minds. It only happens at a special space at a special time. LSU can be up, LSU can be down, but LSU’s best weapon remains … sunset.”

Since 1958, LSU is 284-72-4 (.794) at night in Tiger Stadium compared to a 50-28-3 (.636) record during the day in that span. Since 2000, LSU is 112-15 (.882) in Saturday night games in Death Valley.

So, all those night rent-a-wins account for how many of those night wins? How many were weak SEC teams? I definitely prefer night games, don't get me wrong, and there is a mystique to Saturday night at LSU, but I do not think it is overwhelmingly better or even better because of the time, but more because of the opponents.

I went through the seasons from 2000-2024, and LSU is 33-6 (0.846) in Tiger Stadium for day games, assuming I did not miss any games. My numbers are always suspect.
