For those who say basketball can't thrive at LSU, I simply say this: Macklin is one of my alltime favorite Tigers, regardless of sport. He was an All American, and LSU was a March Madness tournament power... he got them to the Final Four his senior season. If we could get the program back to that level (consistent tournament appearances with occasional deep runs), basketball would again be as big here as anywhere in the nation. We just need some consistency and success.
As for Hilliard, I will continue to view him as my favorite tailback ever at LSU, ahead of Faulk, Fournette etc. Combination of on-field play, underdog status (he wasn't supposed to beat out Garry James), and the age I was when he played.
