I wouldn't say stabilizer. He was more like the rental car you needed after your car was totaled that did the job as you transitioned from a Ford Ranger to a BMW M6.

He was perfect to lead that offense from where it was to where it needed to go. Joe was the perfect person to finish that job.

I almost included Sammy Martin, but I put him on almost every list like this! LOL
I loved watching that guy.

And Danny won what? Nothing, the same as Harris and Jennings.

I remember seeing Sammy Martin wake up a lifeless LSU team in a home game vs Alabama. He broke about ten tackles on a second half kickoff vs Bama and returned past midfield! And he was scrawny and didn't look like a star athlete.

Garry James scored from 46 yards out on the next play, and turned a 0-7 snorefest into a 7-7 real game. And three minutes later the Tigers got the ball back and Jeff Wickersham did the most unbelievable thing ever: connect on a 70 yard TD bomb to a wide open Wendell Davis!

He gets talked about an odd amount around here.

And yet, he was better than both of them put together.

Yeah it’s a little weird. An average qb on an average team yet he gets talked about more often than good qb’s. Really weird

Graphic from 2017. Etling quietly snuck into a group of big names.

He was a serviceable QB1 at the time. Nothing more, nothing less.
Etling was actually pretty good.

He got drafted and hung around the NFL for 5 years on practice squads. Even got promoted to the Falcons active roster for 1 game.

The vast majority of college QBs don't do this.

Ok, he's level 1A Trash, BH 1B Trash and Jennings 1C Trash. See the pattern they were all TRASH. Ya'll should start an appreciation for the guy that put air your tires at Discount Tires, he had more of impact on our lives than those three.

It’s unbelievable how 2016-2017 felt like a millennium ago. Not even 10 years ago and yet it was a completely different era of college football.

DE was great, but how many of these are we going to have for Etling.

No. If he was actually good, we might have beaten Bama in 2016 & 2017. Our offense was anemic due to mediocre QB play. Those are the moments when truly good or great QBs shine.

Unfortunately for Etling, he completely shite the bed despite the rest of the team playing a pretty good game in both of those games.

DJ Chark just burned his man deep again only to be over thrown by Etling.

Danny Etling was not a good QB.
