But I was told on here that the SECT didn’t matter.
you were told right.

The goal is to get a national seed so we'd have home field in the supers (and miss out on a really good 2 seed in the regional). Beyond that, the pairings are meaningless.
Worried about a 1-4 Omaha matchup with Wake Forest? Do you think they want to face Skenes in game 1?

Worried about facing an SEC team in the Supers? It looks like there will be 10 SEC teams in the postseason, and the committee will try to avoid having the CWS be an all-SEC affair; so go ahead and expect to see plenty of SEC-SEC supers. There are going to be 4 SEC national seeds- LSU, Arkansas, Florida and Vandy. They will almost certainly end up paired with Bama, Auburn, Kentucky, and one of the regionals Tennessee and South Carolina are in. South Carolina, if they go to Coastal, will be the defacto favorite there. Similarly, if Tennessee ends up at Indiana State, they also should advance.

The Supers will be set up with a path for Wake, Stanford, Clemson, and SEC teams. It is what it is.

Those things aren’t going to change in the next two weeks.

You’re right that the areas that are weaknesses for this team aren’t going to magically disappear, but those concerns were there when the team was playing well. Anyone who guarantees LSU will succeed and anyone who guarantees they will fail is equally a fool. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be considered a favorite to make it to Omaha, but it also doesn’t mean there are no reasons for concern.

LSU is still the #2 odds on favorite to win the CWS. No way I’d make that bet though. So many better value bets on the rest of the field.

Nicholls's Friday night guy is from St. Amant. Not sure whether he got a look from LSU, similar to Tanner Hall at USM, who apparently was passed over in favor of Sam Dutton.

Shift should be outlawed in college. Analytics is ruining baseball. Play straight up. Analytics is causing overthinking. Too much to think about.

So much speculation! It's fun to speculate, but 100% sure none of these scenarios will happen. With the downfall since the second half of the SEC season and the way the team is playing both physically and mentally, maybe let's worry about one game at a time, no matter who the opponent may be! It will be a tough road to just get to Omaha, with the downfall that has taken place.

They may still host, but does anyone else think Auburn is not such a lock for a top 16 seed? RPI is down to 20 and they have a losing record against the top 50.

I agree they aren’t a lock. They are going to be in a group of teams fighting for the last several spots. 4 of the teams ahead of them also have losing records against Q1, so that’s not necessarily disqualifying. Many seem convinced that SC has fallen out of a host spot, but their overall body of work is better. I think they host ahead of DBU and BC, but it will be interesting to see what they do with Kentucky, SC, Tennessee, Auburn, Indiana St and Campbell. 4 of those 6 are likely to host unless someone like USM or East Carolina sneaks into the mix. West Virginia is more than like out of the mix now.

base running and defensive shifts have been a major issue lately. It's almost little league how bad it is right now.

Miami currently leading Wake. I'm starting to think they may play themselves into that final top 8 seed and not Virginia.

Alabama State is gone.

SWAC will likely send FAMU/Bethune to Gainesville if Grambling doesn't win it.

Alabama State losing to Florida A&M in the SWAC Semis.

Grambling may steal that bid.

Also Nicholls losing to UNO currently.

Would be interesting to see if the committee would still send Nicholls or Grambling to BR.

It will be completely different again tomorrow but Nicholls as a 4 seed in LSUs regional is getting more and more evident. 1 win away for them.

LSU always gets the SWAC or southland champ in their regional so that makes sense.

Almost looks inevitable we will be paired with an sec team in the supers Either Bama Auburn Kentucky

Everyone will gnash their teeth over this for a week and inevitably the regional host LSU is paired with will lose.

That would be a disaster of a super. I really don't want to be paired with another SEC team for supers.

Well if history has taught us anything whoever the tigers are paired with the 1 seed is more than likely not winning it.
