I feel like whenever people admit this and realize that you can't really change it there will be a lot less heartburn over this type of stuff.

Just move on.

It was one thing to chant F U Saban the first time he came back. He kind of deserved it. It's not needed anymore.
I wouldn't have a problem with students chanting F U Tebow after he taunted the crowd, even though we started it by calling him thousands of times that week.
I wouldn't have a problem with chanting F U Marhsall Henderson. He deserves that everywhere he went.
I didn't have a problem with homosexual towards Laetner. He was a cocky POS and i'd bet you he would say he deserved it as well. Everyone hated him, and he didn't do anything to help his cause with that b/c he liked when people hated him.

I have a problem yelling F U Buddy. The kid did nothing to provoke such a hated chant at him. He's the best player in the country by a mile, and seems pretty well respected by everyone. Hell the Kansas fans stayed after the 3OT game and gave him a standing ovation.

I think it's embarrassing anytime you yell profanities at opposing players/coaches, but sometimes i can at least understand the hatred and i am somewhat ok with it. Saturday wasn't one of those days.

if you ask me, i think they shouldn't let any students attend the next game, unless they want to buy a ticket and sit with everyone else. Rope off the student section and leave it empty for 1 game.

This.

If you think our fan base has a reputation for keeping it classy; you have another thing coming.

It is what it is. And I could care less as long as we're not laying nutsacks on kids who are passed out.

I agree - people shouldn't act like it only happens at LSU.
I was there with my son, sitting opposite the student section, and you couldn't even make it out from where we were. It was a huge game and emotions were running high - people need to get over it and move on.

These stories you hear of LSU fans throwing shite at people have been around before any of the current students were born. So basically people are bitching about exactly what they and their peers did while they were students.

Should we have given them a victory lap and a group hug?

Nah, the rant would have complained like we did for Stoney Brook. Wait never mind, the Rant complains about everything anyway.

#1 - this ain't Kansas; #2 - that's the only meaningful sport Kansas plays so . . .

Did you tell your son its ok to throw shite at players on a court?

That's really the whole part that bothers me.

No. You take your beating without being a pussy about it. He beat us. At no point did he do anything before during or after the game to warrant a hateful chant like that at him.

I merely pointed out the Kansas example to show that the kid isn't some punk dickhead that everyone hates. He's well liked, and he didn't deserve a chant like that. There are people that do deserve it, and i gave examples of them, he just wasn't one of them.

I just dont' understand what provoked the chant. Normally there's a backstory. There was none for him.

We left as soon as the game ended - I honestly didn't know that happened until later. Now, that does bother me.

Here we are morally outraged when they were chanting "F*ggot" in the 90's.

"frick you, Buddy" was funny. Didn't offend anyone. Geaux Tigers.

Yes.

In the late 70's-early 80's.

It is a shame these young whippersnappers don't go back that far.

Are college "kids" still considered kids at this point? 18, 19yr old are fricking adults for crying out loud. No reason to throw shite on the floor.

All this. Unfortunately you are talking to a bunch of underdeveloped adults who don't care about sports except as an opportunity to shout obscenities at an athlete who would kick their arse if they did it any other place.

They ripped us then too. I thought the media was going overboard back then but now I understand. I remember Feinswag wrote a whole article about it.

We aren't the most sophisticated fans. We aren't clever.
I was at the game. The Duke section was as loud and totally showed up the LSU fans.

People need to make up their mind, you either want a live and wild crowd for basketball games or you want a church. You aren't going to get a clean loud crowd anywhere.
