Crazy baseball stat on hitting with bases loaded versus with runners in scoring position

With the bases loaded Tigers are
9 for 53 or .170 in all games (13th in SEC)
2 for 13 or .154 in SEC games (13th in SEC)
With runners in scoring position they are
133 of 409 or .325 in all games (3rd in SEC)
46 of 155 or .297 in SEC games (3rd in SEC)
And since scoring position includes the bases loaded, you can calculate that with runners on 2nd and 3rd, and only 2nd, and only 3rd they are
124 of 356 or .348 in all games and
44 of 142 or .310 in SEC games
Watching the games, it seems that the struggle is with RISP, but it really is just with bases loaded for some strange reason.

Easier to get an out with the bases loaded?

One reason is that with bases loaded, the DP comes into effect and force outs at any base. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, or just one of those, the force is taken away and usually the DP (unless there is a quirky line drive with some bad baserunning or a fly ball tag where the runner gets gunned).

And we're still in the top quarter for runs scored. Our hitting stats are healthy. I'm not sweating over our average with the bases loaded if we're still scoring. I still have some issue with how little we've done with manufacturing runs - we rarely bunt, we rarely steal, we rarely hit and run. I saw a little more movement this past weekend (coupled with some situational hitting, i.e. hitting behind runners, hitting it on the ground when necessary, etc). Those little things are going to be the difference in games that your defense lets you down.

Batting order?
Early guys on base. Later guys making final out?

It’s very hard to get 4 hits in a row.
So usually you have 1-2 outs by the time you’ve loaded the bases.
It’s why MLB teams out so much emphasis on power, and still try and hit over the shift

Statistical anomaly really. Thats all there is to it.

It's the difference in LSU's results relative to the rest of the SEC (13th and 3rd) that is unusual.
For example with bases loaded it is
1. Georgia
2. Tennessee
3. Missouri
4. Vanderbilt
With RISP it is
1. Missouri
2. Georgia
3. LSU
4. Tennessee
Maybe the sample size especially for SEC games is not enough for the law of averages to even things out. Hopefully, LSU begins to get hits with bases loaded like the other hitting stats say they should.

Seems like we strike out or hit a grounder with the bases loaded which are basically the 2 things you can’t do in that situation. Hopefully it’s an anomaly that will turn around given our avg with RISP.

They are 20-5 when committing 0-1 errors
They are 8-7 when committing 2+. There ya go.

I think we all want to see us hit better with the bases loaded. But we should like how well we hit with RISP as a whole.
