Right. Plus Nola throws a frick ton of fastballs and is effective... Not that detrimental to your arm.

Only a clown would have left him in this early in the season while trying to build stamina. It was the right call and a no brainer.

Exactly. It's not as big of deal as people try to make it be.

Resting him a game still doesn't take away the wear & year this early in the season. Likely was on a pitch count & the general rule of thumb is to stick to that

If this was start 10 he'd still be out there

Sure, if he could have finished the game in 12 pitches, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. However, what if he keeps the no-no but takes 15 pitches to get out of the eighth? Now what?

People would be bitching like hell if he got pulled with a no hitter after 8 complete. But what if he takes another 15 pitches to get through the ninth? Now he's thrown 117 pitches in only his second start. That is a recipe for disaster come May.

My biggest problem is why aren't we just playing a three game series with Va Tech instead of the crap we're playing tomorrow and Sunday ?

It's not a huge deal, I'm just saying 10-20 pitches isn't going to destroy his arm. I mean the Rangers got rid of pitch counts.

Only no-no's in the majors mean anything. Correct move.

You won't see many mlb players throw complete games in their first few starts though

Or have no hitters through 7.

Once again it's no big deal, just saying 20 extra pitches won't wear him down, down the road.

I have mixed feelings .. You have a chance to do something that hasn't been done in 47 years in a program that is stagnating .. A no no is something that would get the attention of peripheral fans .. But you can't piss Nola's potential future away either .... Nola does have a rubber arm, though .. I almost lean toward letting him take a shot at it ..

2nd start. Getting colder. I don't see the need to take the chance on a top ten pick and a game in the bag

Since 2009 .. We've stagnated compared to where this program has been in the past ..
