I’ve been told that CPM has already addressed the team and informed them that he will be stepping away following the conclusion of this season.

We've heard this before. If it were true, I think it would've leaked out, just my opinion.

I can see that easily changing this year…

One of the reasons that they haven't lost the first game of a regional in going on 40 years is that they are usually playing the 4 seed. It will be a taller task this year, if they get in at all.

If CPM would just announce his retirement the kids may go on a run. Please announce so we can stop hating him and thank him for whatever he did to help.

Nice, Mainieri will put another feather in his cap before he leaves. Had our first winless SECt since 2005. Will now have our first winless regional since 1985!

Who is the top candidate to replace him?

You sure?

I'm really having my doubts.

Longer it goes, more I doubt he retires.

Agree. And this is also not how the tournament field is set.

If Mainieri wants to give his team the best opportunity to get a bid, he probably should come out publicly before the selection and hope to maybe get a nudge based no sentiment.

There’s no use in starting another thread calling for his job, his future has already been determined.

If there’s one thing everyone should know about LSU and their “leadership” is that NOTHING is final until the ink is dry. Also, threads on this board should have zero bearing on the decisions being made about his future.

I haven’t seen any reputable sources leaking this info, and I guarantee you someone on or around the team or AD would have let it out.

LSU has info leaks when someone in the AD has a loose stool, much less a long time coach “retiring”

If this was the case it seems the media would be reporting it.

Throw the stats out the window, they will 100% certainly lose the first round to a #1 seed. This team is not very good at all

We gotta hope we make it still... the worst possible scenario is in full effect at the moment for LSU
