Would have loved to see him get his 2 years in 20 & 21. Thinking back on it he was very similar to Nuss. Above average arm and accuracy but slow. Would have been more fun to watch him than the shite show we had after he got hurt both years.

Actually really crazy his injuries too. A abdominal injury so rare he could have had a surgery named after him. And then slipping and breaking his arm. Guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

He did not want to. Kind of a throwback compared to where we are now in college football.

He had great arm talent but was not overly athletic (or remotely). I think he may have struggled when we got to the meat of our schedule that year with a bang up job of an O-line we had that year and a good pass rush. But when you give that guy a clean pocket, he was going to find Marshall or Boutte downfield. He was probably a little bit of a downgrade to Nuss and not quite as athletic.

I wonder how much time has to pass before he finally admits he was drunk and fell down the steps to break his arm. Not everyone who was there when it happened has kept the secret.

Shepard had raw talent, but he was inconsistent even in practice. He could through a great deep ball one play, the next the db was acting like Willie Mays waiting to field for an out to center. He had major problems on the intermediate throws. He was good on the roll out and could be creative at times.

Miles' offense did not do him favors as Miles usually only threw when it was absolutely needed

Are all of us Americans suffering from medium to long term memory loss? Or is the OP twelve?

I swear that the majority can't remember extensively discussed issues from six weeks ago . . .

nope.

It was Brennan's job to lose in the spring of 2018. He only had McMillian and Narcisse as his QB competition. Burrow wasn't here.

But in spring practice, the coaches realized Brennan wasn't the guy, so they went out looking for a transfer, and got Burrow.

And remember, Burrow wasn't anything at that time - he hadn't played at Ohio State and I believe our only other real competition for Burrow was Cincinnati.

Starts passing at 2:20 in this video and looks really good to me.

There was DL that could throw better than him.

These are reports from Les Miles’s 1940’s offensive practices.

You put Shepard in Chip Kelly’s spread and he would have been a heisman finalist.

Myles was good. His stats before he got hurt in 2020 were pacing Burrow’s 2019. He wasn’t going to be as good as Burrow but he was a very good QB. People like to bag on his toughness but he finished the Missouri game with the abdominal tear injury.

Dude was on pace to put up monster numbers before his first injury.

In 2020 I think having Myles we beat Texas AM.

We still probably lose to bama and Auburn because our defense couldn’t stop anyone that year.

In 2021 we would have beat UCLA, Auburn, bama, Arkansas.

Ole Miss and Kentucky would have been toss ups.

So you go from 6-6 regular season to 10-2 regular season, you don’t have a mass exodus of players, get a better bowl game, Orgeron is never fired.

I don't think he was the same after his injuries. From all accounts, he was running 3rd string behind JD and Nuss in '22 probably decided he had enough. Had he never gotten injured, it might be a different story.

Anybody else think at his best his comp could have been Jared Goff?

Similar build, big arm and zero mobility.

Brennan was too small for the SEC, he was never going to be healthy very long, I think that influenced his decision to walk away.

I don't know if that's true, but he could've transferred to a smaller school and started immediately, rather than give up the game.
