Could Maason Smith be the difference between a W or L in 2 games this year?

Pointing to FSU and A&M from last year. Maybe more. I think Smith is an overlooked player who can be our Dorsey this year.
And he’s got Perkins as a compliment.

Still think Arcane runs for plenty. Got man handled on both lines of scrimmage.

Yeah we were out of gas by the A&M game. Also the special teams miscues are still what killed us against FSU but I agree he could be the difference this year.

Achane vs Maason, Perkins, Savion, Wingo, Womack… plus the transfers man I’m not so sure he can get loose

Very hard for an interior DL as dominant as they could be to be a difference in 2 wins or losses. 1? yes. Skill positions can win games. OL is hard to quantify as you notice when they do bad, but don't notice when they're good. Harold Perkins definitely without a doubt won the Arkansas game for us. I seem to think I remember he played a big role in another win.

You think Maason Smith is overlooked? He is listed on some All America Teams even though he didn't play last season, and has never been a highly productive college player.

Smith should eat up some blockers that allows Perkins to cause more Havoc...and vice versa.

I thought Smith on the field would have been worth at least one less FSU TD in that game. Would've been enough to secure the win and maybe even make it a more dominant debut for Kelly.

I think so. I definitely think he would've helped us get one more win last year.
Bama. Kept Bryce Young in check. I think he had a good day against Ole Miss too, but that game wasn't really in doubt.

Maason Smith can easily be the difference in wins and losses. I think the player who is going to benefit the most from his health is Harold Perkins.

If he doesn’t get hurt our DTs aren’t gassed this game

I mean it's possible. But if you at the way Vegas treats lines and o/u win totals, the only position that moves the needle in football is the QB.

You mean for the Dolphins?

Sounds like the jury is still out
I like everyone of us, (hope springs eternal)

I'll bet anyone that Achane gets zero yards against LSU this Fall.

Maason Smith is a RS Soph.
He played five games (all SEC games) as a true freshman and had 19 tackles and four sacks and was named Freshman AA.
He was injured in the first series of his soph. year, when he was a pre-season AA by several publications.
The "jury may still be out" for you, but some already view Smith as a budding star.
Along with Perkins and Malik Nabors, he is one of top three players on this team.

I'm not knocking the dude it's not like I came out saying he's injury prone or anything like that. I view him as a budding star as well but dude needs to make it through a season to bloom.

All these Smith threads I see and none of them really mention the impact his return will have for Wingo. That guy was practically the defensive MVP last year.
He was an animal that played almost every snap and was a playmaker.
Yes Smith will help Perkins, but the combo of Smith and Wingo is going to be something to watch. I am imagining Lavalais and Williams style production.
Comparing to Dorsey is putting too much pressure on the kid.
But I predict Wingo will have an even better statistical season than last year and that will be huge for us.
Our secondary will get a lot of help from D line this year and it’s gonna be great.

Second that on Wingo.
Moreso than just adding Smith, we’re also adding Jefferson, Shand, Lee & potentially starting to get contributions from Hill/West.
From that group, at least confident Jefferson will be an impact player. Shand could be. From there Hill & West have potential as well. At the very least, starting out with more depth to work with an avenue to be elite unit if some things work out.
