Alabama raised Nick Saban up to just under $10mill a year a few months ago and that was without him having to leave a program he had spent the last decade building into a perennial playoff contender. Why no congressional inquiries before now?

Hope I get to see their face when they find out that not only is our athletic department self funded but also provides funds for academics, as well.

For as much money as people claim the football program just pours back into the school, it doesn’t show up in academic rankings. LSU is not good academically. All these other SEC schools have us beat in that area.

Maybe he should ask TD those questions. Almost anyone on this board knows more than a congressman from NJ. How scary is that?

Alabama, Auburn, TAMU Mich St, Penn St all send their regards and want to know why they weren’t asked the same questions.

Tigers don’t change their stripes but if he wants to win some cred here then he’ll end his response to congress with STTDB

I too sent Pascrell an email.

quote:

Hey dumbass, maybe educate yourself before you go spewing your bullshite. LSU, and other public universities, are not footing these $100M coaches salaries. Private businesses and private citizens donate their hard earned money to the athletic department, who is paying close to 95% of that bill. Coach Brian Kelly's annual salary from the state of LA, is only $400k, not $10M, and if we Louisiana's have a problem with that, it's our business, not yours.
Mind your own god damn business and don't tell me or anyone else who donates to LSU's athletic department what to do with their money.

And if you did some research, you'd know that LSU is one of the few athletic programs in the country that turns a profit, and on top of that, actually gives money back to the academic side every year, something I'm sure you don't see from any other university in this country.
Why don't you do some research on the positive influence Alabama's football success has had on the universities academic side. LSU saw that same success as attendance grew significantly after their first of 3 titles in this century in 2003.

Maybe you should stop spending trillions of dollars of money you don't have, and stop telling citizens of this country what to do with their hard earned money after you steal 40% of it.

Respectfully,
someone who wishes they didn't have to pay part of your salary.

The punctuation errors are going to kill your message with this guy. I could have done a nice edit on that for you.

That Pascarell and Blumenthal are involved shows the absolute partisanship involved here.
Both are yes men on Nancy's leash.
To get total control, the government has to find a way to control sports and therefore fans.

Isn’t the “University’s” responsibly of CBK’s contract less than 1/2 a mil per year?

Nothing more than a politician trying to get 15-minutes of coverage and a few sound-bytes for next year….who is woefully unaware how LSU athletics operates.

In related news Bill Pascrell Jr was part of a controversial redistricting in New Jersey that had him elected to the 9th seat in New Jersey. At the time his net worth was around 3 million dollars and had been steady at that for several years before just a little over a year later after the controversial election his net worth nearly doubled to just under 6 million dollars. To deflect away from anybody noticing this, he is now questioning the salary of college football coaches.

President Tate should forward the letter to Congresswoman Taylor Green of Georgia . I bet she would rip him a new azz.

The party of Jim Crow is trying to bully the black LSU president and is also butthurt that two black coaches (Tucker and Franklin) received huge contracts.

You didn't hear a peep out of this racist asshat when white coaches like Jimbo and Nick got paid.

Oh FFS, try harder on your reading comprehension...
It's the USA Today article who mentions Tucker and Franklin's salaries; no indication that the letter from the Congressman mentions any other coaches or salaries.

It does seem like someone's racism is showing but I think it is yours.

I’d like to see Tate go after these democratic congressmen from the northeast and really rio them, see how they react.

I realize that pissing and moaning about politicians is a popular pastime, but...

Seriously, does this make any fricking sense whatsoever?
So what are these politicians going to do for a living AFTER they've succeeded in "reducing society to rubble"?

So no questions about the mega contracts to two middling coaches that happen to be African American, neither of which has the resume of the two the inquisition is about.

Obvious is obvious.
