We ARE doing ok. WE WERE kicking arse and taking names under Wade, especially in regard to how any LSU coach in history had done in his first 5 years.

McMahon has definitely outperformed what I thought he would do in year 2. He still has a way to go to shut up all the Wade people, which I as one, will be THRILLED to do if/when he accomplishes/exceeds that.

For the record, "Wade people" are in reality people that want LSU to win consistently. I don't care if it's Wade, McMahon, Ted Bundy, or Charles Manson at the helm, I want LSU to win.

For the ranters that wear dresses, I'm obviously using hyperbole with the Bundy and Manson references.

He inherited a team whiteout a single scholarship player, I’d say that statement is a fact.

Yea I'm pretty confident he is better than buzz/stackhouse/Mike white. Who else in that list would you rather have CMM for sure over? Maybe Gates?

Calipari, Barnes and Pearl are in the twilight of their careers. I am not sure Barnes and Pearl will make another Final Four as Tennessee has never been and Pearl seems to have too much inconsistency. Calipari 's once and done freshman approach may have run its course .

Looking long term and considering age and historical results of the programs the ceiling is highest for Todd Golden and McMahon and possibly Musselman. The other coaches may do well off and on but are not likely to survive the second round of the NCAA tournament if they get that far. It will be interesting to see if Lamont Paris can sustain this year's success or is he next season's Dennis Gates. Mike White could be Georgia's basketball version of Kirby Smart if he can put a border around Georgia.

In the new age of college basketball the coach who works the portal best will have the most success if he recruits well in high school and holds on to them while landing a big hammer in the portal to lead the way

How many of those coaches had possible sanctions against the team hanging over their head and a depleted team?

Not a single one faced possible draconian sanctions and an empty roster as did McMahon. The jury is still out on him but the performance of the team in conference play provides optimism. They only had a couple of bad losses which almost every team in the league experienced. There were only 2 or 3 games where they did not have a reasonable chance to win within the last five minutes.

Neither did McMahon

and an empty roster

Gave him ample opportunity to rid the program of the street ball players that previously held all the roster spots.

The “empty roster” myth is just that, a myth created here. Pinson, Gaines, Miller, Murray, Fudge, Wilk, Williams, O’Neal and Reid were all still here and hadn’t entered the portal yet when McMahon was hired.

What would McMahon have to do in order for y’all to be ok with him being LSU’s coach?

First have the team play good basketball, have us in the top 5 of the conference consistently then make some runs in the post season and at least win the SEC once. Anything else is going backwards. Johnny Jones is the only coach in the last 50-60 years who’s failed to win the SEC at least once.

The portal did not open until after the Final Four, but he had met with the players and knew who was leaving. Quit parsing words.

Shouldn’t a good recruiter be able to keep guys already at a school to stay?

Not parsing words, this “story” you guys have hitched your entire excuse effort to is false.

Exactly and some were considering staying. His portal date point is another smoke screen because he doesn’t know that we had a couple of guys announce they were entering within the first week of McMahon being hired. One of em even came back. He doesn’t know any of this, like always these people start with a narrative then work backwards dismissing or selecting certain facts depending on whether they fit that narrative or not.

Nice try but you’re not going to keep many kids if there’s uncertainty about possible sanctions looming.
