I watched their game against Oregon State. They’re nothing special. Oregon State botched that game with errors, walks, and HBP’s. Their ace everybody talks about is a typical SEC caliber arm but nothing extraordinary. LSU sees his type of stuff every weekend. Tigers in 2.

In modern college baseball, they’re one of the best smaller schools out there. The ones out West have faded away. RIP Fullerton, Long Beach, Pepperdine, even Irvine.
The rise is with Coastal, and a slew of other smaller conference schools that will make as much noise as possible with portal and NIL hampering things. Dallas Baptist is consistently good, we’ve seen UTSA, Stetson, Sam Houston, Tennessee Tech, and a slew of others have big seasons and win regionals. It’s only a matter of time before someone becomes consistent like Coastal.
They are one of the better programs these days. Can’t overlook them, and if their coach wants to do that to fire them up, fine.

iirc, they got a leg up on this game before NIL was NIL and the transfer portal was a thing, they appeared on the map because they were a haven for athletes from big time programs that had either run into disciplinary and/or grade problems and were looking for a place to play immediately with no sitting out a season
