Yep, he and Herbstreit are 2 of the 3 AP voters that have us rated the lowest. Herbie has us at 25.

soon.
beat #21 WV by 10 or more = move up in east coast voting.

I watched some of WV vs Marshall. teeny. fast, but teeny.

I think WV will be good practice for Demps/Florida.

It's bullshite to start putting the Sagarin poll in these posts just cause his poll has LSU so high.

Every other year, when Jeff Sagarin's poll had LSU lower than AP or coaches poll, it was criticized and devalued, it should still be considered as such.

both Sagarin and Billingsley are part of the BCS computers, and they are relevant and cannot be discounted much although BCS throws out the highest and lowest computer of the 6 of them. Billingsley likes LSU too. Not just Sagarin. its a good thing. Sagarin likes teams that score.
Notice Sagarin still has Cal rated fairly high, even though they lost last night. He has Oregon and Stanford high because Sagarin believes scoring wins games.
For LSU to move up to the top, they have to put more points on the board against the better competition, coming up. They are up as high as they are because they have a great defense.

Billingsley has LSU #8. Billingsley is one of the 6 BCS computer programmers.

Before this year, the Sagarin poll was never mentioned on this board except for people bitching how low his poll had LSU.

Point is, there was always a stickyed post when the AP and Coaches poll came out...as well as BCS, BUT this year, because Sagarin has LSU so high...now his polls are posted too. It's just really hypocritical.

It would be like LSU fans claiming a national title if we were voted AP champs at the end of the year and never playing in the BCS title game.

AP Poll shouldn't be posted. It is not part of the BCS and nobody cares about it anyway.....well no one that matters.

We gained a lot of votes in both polls so I'm ok with not moving up. People are at least moving us up in their individual polls.

What a stand up guy. I have a feeling that he believes that the sun rises and sets in his own opinion. He was on the team that got SMU the "death penalty" although no one was able to implicate him in any of that. There is just something about him that makes me want to change the channel. How about we call on another complete idiot, Mike Leach (some people's on this board's "want" as the next LSU coaching disaster), for a character reference about James and his family?

Okay, the AP voters are just plain stupid! South Carolina moves up after they beat FURMAN by less points than we beat a conference opponent and we get jumped by Arizona who was 24th last week? That's just idiotic! And please don't tell me these people really think Wisconsin should remain #11 after another escape.

I know the AP doesn't count but whoever thinks this poll is better than the others should think again.

The flip side (good news) is that running the table makes us a lock for the big game.

Not necessarily. The computers should love us, but the polls are 2/3rds of the formula. With the potential for an unusually high number of undefeated teams who are already ahead of us (it could easily be 4 or 5), we could be #1 in the computers and as low as #5 or #6 in the polls. Under that scenario, it's very possible we wouldn't be in the top 2 going into the BCS, even if we are 13-0.

It would be very easy for the following teams who are currently ranked ahead of us to be undefeated going into the bowls and still ranked ahead of us in the polls:

1) Ohio State (Iowa, Wisconsin the only real obstacles)
2) Boise State (All hopes rest on Oregon State)
3) Oregon or Arizona (must hope that a tough Pac Ten beat up on each other)
4) TCU or Utah (no real obstacles except each other)
5) Big XII champion (OU, Texas or Nebraska--no real obstacles except each other)

We would probably leapfrog some or all of these in the computers based on our strength of schedule, but the poll voters are not as reliable as a mathematical formula, especially if we are mostly winning ugly. If we are all the way at #6 behind these teams, the computers may not be enough to pick us back up. This is particularly problematic with Oregon/Arizona, Ohio State and the Big XII champion, whose computer rankings will likely be right up there with ours or close to it if they are undefeated.

It all boils down to whatever ESPN thinks and all of the writers and a-hole coaches will do anything that they believe ESPN will like and/or dislike. ESPN and their writers and commentators actually hate LSU and all the sports that they are invoved in. I don't watch it unless LSU is playing.

Am I the only one being ok with not breaching the top 10 yet? Lower in rankings, less national attention, less pressure on an already shaky QB. I would rather sneak up the rankings personally, rather than making a rather large leap early on in the season.

I just feel like it's better for us in the long run.

WELL now if it ain't good ole nuts......he has gone from his 7-5 predictions to telling us why we won't play for the NC even if we win out. LMAO. Good ole nuts, always the negative guy. Let me just say this nuts. LSU won't go undefeated. however, if they do, there ain't no way in hell that lsu would not play for the NC...they would have beaten bama, florida, arky, auburn, west virginia and then another top 10 team in the SEC championship...possibly a highly ranked South Carolina....plus, they would have beaten BAMA....you know...the team espn just ooohs and ahhhs over....We would likely play an undefeated Ohio State. No way a team like nebraska is ahead of us because we would be ranked right with them in polls, then the computers would punish them for their weak arse schedule and reward lsu......and i'm not even going to talk about boise or tcu or the pac 10.

Just checked. He has Auburn at 15. They scored 12 less points, none in the 2nd half and gave up 7 more to the same team. Just dumb Herbie. Chris Fowler on the other hand has us at 13 and Auburn at 17. He needs to give Herbie a lesson. Some of these voters make me laugh. We may be struggling on offense but our defense is much better than many of those teams and so are our special teams. Seems like they're only looking at one side of the equation.
