I’ve said it before, this board is like a sitting president, when things don’t go like people want or expect the easy thing to do is blame the person who was president before you. I don’t disagree that O left us in a bad place, but to the extent that it still should be the sole reason we aren’t back to n the hunt is ridiculous. Sure we have had some depth issues bc of it. But also in the same breath, this is the portal/NIL era, if you have openings you can fill them with free agents. We hit on some huge like JD, then we missed on some like Denver Harris and Duce.

p226: No I don't know anything about you are 100% correct. So let me correct my earlier post and let me specify that I am talking about your football analysis here only and your post made in a public football forum. So related to your football analysis relative to LSU's roster, it is my belief you are incorrect.
Lets look at the numbers in more detail:
One correction, 29 portal guys for 2022 and 2023 combined and 26 HS signees for 2023 and 15 in 2022. So that is a total of 70 guys BK has brought in.
O's 2020 and 2021 classes left very little on the roster. That is the reason for the 29 portal guys and awarding scholarships to preferred walk-ons to fill out the roster.
So again, just you try doing some basic addition. From the 2020 Coach O recruiting class, only 2 guys are left (Martinez, Guillory) . Boutte, Roy an Ojulari played last year. So 5 of the 22 HS signees from Coach O's 2020 class played in 2022 and 2023 (This year). That class was a bust basically. The 2021 class is better to be fair as 14 of the 24 HS signees plus Major Burns who was brought in are still here. The other 3 guys did not pan out (Jones from Clemson was a transfer in that group). But that is 16 guys who are JRs, RS JRs or SR's out of a possible 47 that are still around from O's last 2 classes. That is not enough from those 2 classes. Those are just the facts.
And if you look at the players, they are some obvious super talented WR's (Malik, BTJR, Hilton) and 1 excellent OL in Dellenger (2 backup guys in Martinez and Makaneole) but no elite DB's in that bunch. No TE's at all, no elite RB's, 1 solid LB in PENN III. Nuss was in that class so we will see how he turns out.
So of the 80 players that were evaluated as part of LSU's 247 Composite talent ranking, only 16 of those are from O's last 2 classes (only 19 were around when BK got here for 2022). That is it.
So now you take a look at what I wrote and you tell me what does not make sense.

Kelly has been able to slap bandaids on it, because of the portal.
QB in 22 and 23, Daniels
RB in 23, Diggs
starting corners in 22 and 23; they didn't pan out this year.
Starting MLB in 23, didn't look good.
Starting DT in 22 and 23, Wingo.
Safety in 22 and 23, Burns
We could run down the list more; but the point is that he has brought guys in that were better than what was left on the roster. The fact that some of them suck (such as the cornerbacks) makes that even more damning.
The good news is that we should start seeing recruits taking these spots over next year; but without the portal this was a losing team the past 2 seasons.

Due to good coaching. We had 1 player drafted in the first 3 rounds(he was drafted in the 2nd)of the 2023 nfl draft. That's 100% on orgeron. We won't have another player drafted in the first or second rd in the upcoming NFL draft either. That's 100% on O.

In this instance you're telling people your," football ignorant" opinion. To say a roster should be championship worthy two years after taking over a losing program is football ignorant. There is a reason we won't have any defensive players drafted high in this upcoming NFL draft and it has frick all to do with Kelly's recruits.

Think about why a player usually wants to transfer out of a program. It's usually because they couldn't win a starting job at another program.

Without JD Kelly has a losing record this year. For 10 million a year you better be exceptional! Year three coming up.

We’ve had plenty of time, with the addition of the portal, to get this defensive personnel up to standard. Maybe not top 10 level but there is zero excuses for having a defense this bad. Especially the Ed O excuse. That’s such a lame excuse, it’s pathetic at this point.
Our defense last year was decent with the portal additions. We don’t have elite recruiters, injuries played a part, we didn’t land any elite players on the DL or in the secondary out of HS last year or so far this year and our scheme could be better. On top of that, Louisiana talent hasn’t been great or deep at those two positions and we did miss on the few guys we did have instate.
We don’t have the best coaches on that side of the ball and the DL coach we did bring in, wasn’t able to help most of the year. We were very late identifying there was a problem with development on the DL as well. CBK himself said that was his fault and y’all still won’t admit most of this is on the current HC.
You people have serious issues. The man isn’t perfect and I believe he will get it fixed but this is on him. Our defense could and should be much better at this time. To get it fixed, you first have to identify the problem and blaming someone who is no longer here, isn’t going to help the defense play better.
Hopefully he identifies those issues and finds the solution quickly. Whatever that takes, just get it done and we could have a much better defense as soon as next season. I know this, saying it’s Ed O’s fault, isn’t going to fix a damn thing.

Brian Kelly has won 73% of his games. He is 0-2 in season openers, he is 3-5 vs top 25 (38%) & 2-4 vs top 10 (33%). Brian Kelly is considered a football god.

He also lost to Troy at home. That buffoon lucked into that 2019 team. The adults in that room was Steve Esminger, Joe Brady and Dave Aranda. LSU won in spite of Orgeron. If he was so good why hasn't he been offered any head coaching jobs?

I never said he was good. I'm simply pointing out that the records of the 2 previous coaches are similar to the current coach.
Brian Kelly is a mediocre coach. He went 9-3 in his 1st two regular seasons. 9-3 will be the what we can expect from him.

Thanks Chase or whichever Orgeron you’re related to. Also relay to your daddy that he sucked as a head coach. The only thing he could do is recruit and get people pumped up but as far as developing talent and running a program, he was awful.

Exactly. Go read the coaching board for God sake. People are heaping praise on coaches for going 7-5 because they took over a team that won 3-4 games the year before.
We all know what Kelly walked in to but you’ve still got people criticizing him lol
The inability of our fans to be objective is second to none.
How would you feel if Kelly took over at Florida and walked into identical circumstances as he did here and had the same record as he does here after two years. I’d imagine you’d be praising him and asking why LSU didn’t hire a coach like that
