It had been since 2008 vs Florida that I had seen an LSU team quit like that. The defense never gave up vs Troy, they just got manhandled.

So you weren’t a fan in 2013? Or just didn’t watch? Because that team sure as hell quit vs Bama. Did it again this year too.

And yes, losing to a Sun Belt team is always, ALWAYS worse than losing a conference game.

He laughs at the ACC but the ACC champ has beaten the SEC champ in 3 of the last 4 national title games when those conf champs faced each other.

Without looking it up please tell us about the acc in the mid to late 2000s.
That’s what I was laughing at kid....keep up please.

Miles signed the 2nd best class in the country which he handed to Orgeron prior to being fired in 2016. LSU was a pre-season Top 5 ranked team just 4 weeks prior to Les Miles being fired and Ed Orgeron being hired as interim HC.

Well what happened to CLM?

No, not expressly, but you're posting in a thread, the title of which is "Coach O is Crushing It." [Emphasis added]

Don’t forget Mullen, he hasn’t beat him yet either and now Mullen is at a place where he’ll have close to equal talent soon.

Well I have heard people saying o can’t get us in the playoffs. I’m sure you’ve read those posts right. We were in a better position to make the cfb playoff this year going into final game than we were in 2007

It's hard to argue with this, especially since the CFP didn't exist in 2007.

Not really, took dabo as well as Saban time to build their programs to what the are today.
Both coaches are in what year 11? 12?

God forbid O be extended same courtesy.

I'm not going to pull my post or the other poster who did this back up, but it's already been shown that all of these guys that people want to compare O to....all won hardware and won big seasons FAST. They were given time BECAUSE they won quickly. No excuses, they won. Urban, Dabo, Saban...they all had conference championships by Year 3.

And it took dabo... what 8 years?

Nick Saban is the exception to the rule and you know it.

You were actually talking about Dabo who didn’t take over until 09 and went 9-5 not 7-6 in an ACC that had half it’s teams win at least 8 games. 3 seasons later he beat LSU and went 11-2, Florida State went 12-2 that year then won the national title 14-0 the next.

Mullens an offensive guy. I'll trust Aranda

If you insist on comparing him to Saban (at LSU) and Dabo, he's already failed. Those guys already had some sort of championship by year 2 at their respective schools.

O had better at least win an SEC title this coming season.

No, as has already been pointed out, he won his division and conference much, much sooner.

Keep on keeping on though.

It’s not Aranda you should be worrying about. He’s not the reason Mullen beat us this year.

We weren’t thin at CB at all. That is one of the positions that was properly bridged, even after a ton of attrition

Properly bridges between Miles and Orgeron, sure. But we missed on Surtain and had to convert Netherly and ask Joseph to play out of position. We were also forced to play Alexander at times (A&M), and he just wasn’t SEC quality.

Went 6-2 in the SEC that year. I'll take it that this is the benchmark for year 3?

Nick Saban is the exception to the rule and you know it.

And he got his 8 years, because he was improving and winning his division and conference.

Fine, here:

quote:

Do you want to bring the names up of guys who have won Division and Conference Titles in under 2 years on average? Dabo in Year 2. Carroll Year 2. Meyer won Coach fo the Year at Utah in his first season, and a divisional title, won the SEC in year 2, and went undefeated at OSU in Year 1.

Time is not the common denominator, because none of these hires ever needed "time." They got time because they won big games, and hardware, immediately, then they were gifted "time."

From another thread. Dabo. Carroll. Meyer. Saban. They ALL had hardware by Year 3. Fisher was winning his division in most years, then won the Championship in Year 4. Gene frickin Chizik won in Year 2.

How many excuses did those coaches have on their side?
