Coach BK says they did not prepare Jaden Daniels well enough for some looks from Auburn

Brody Miller
I get JD isn’t a 3rd and 4th read guy, but can we pump the brakes on the kid can’t throw the ball.
If he was unsure of where he could make safe throws downfield against the zone looks Auburn was giving him, Im glad he didn’t sling it downfield anyway, like Nuss does, because he would have had 2-3 interceptions.
If he can start hitting intermediate routs consistently with the occasional deep ball, the kid is Lamar Jackson.
He runs the offense smooth with good tempo, runs the zone read perfectly, and last night he sat in the pocket looking downfield, not bailing out to run too soon. Only thing he didn’t do was pull the trigger. And if he was unsure of where a safe throw could be made because of not being prepared for a scheme he was seeing, I’m glad he didn’t.
Time will tell, and at some point it’s on him for not knowing. But give the kid credit for not doing what 90% of college QB,s would do and throw the ball into coverage you don’t know. And be careful what you wish for because the kid behind him makes some of the reads and can hit receivers. But he also throws the ball blindly where it shouldn’t be going, and eventually that bites you in the arse at the worst time.

I’m all for not throwing picks, but they cannot baby this kid. This is the fricking SEC. The training wheels have to come off. He’s got to grow up and figure out a way to throw for more than 80 yards when the defense adds a wrinkle, or we will likely lose 6 of the next 7 games. Period.

I didn't see Auburn run anything exotic last night.
They were rushing 4 with a spy. How exotic could it be?

He's in 30+ starts to his career and he is exactly what you see and its not getting better.

And it started with hiring Mike Denbrock.

You can't put JD in the pocket....thats the problem.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas. He has started nearly 40 games. When will he start hitting anything?

Teams will not play man against us bc running QBs eat it up. Prepare for a steady diet of zone for the rest of the year

I agree. The problem is the kid behind him can’t make reads either. And the tempo of the offense is noticeably different when he came in. His exchange with Emory was sloppy and caused a fumble. Your going to get the same thing your getting now plus turnovers. It’s not these coaches first rodeo. If something better was on the bench it would be on the field.

All the backup can hit is the bench and the other team. So what are we supposed to do? Bitch at the kid that’s 4-1 with half a roster basically?

Well coach Kelly did inform us plenty of times in the spring and off season that this season was a whole work in progress. So if you were expecting 10 plus wins then that’s unrealistic

quote:Where do you get this nonsense? The defender made a hell of a play and got his helmet on the ball / Emery's arm. Very few RB's can hold on there especially when the helmet is coming from behind you.
His exchange with Emory was sloppy and caused a fumble.

quote:Where are we not deep on offense??? The OLine is giving JD all day to throw, the RB's are solid, and we have 2-3 deep at WR. Are you saying he needs more TE's to be successful???

You always want to avoid INT's but JD leaves a lot of points on the field. Our WR's were getting separation early on in the season and you can definitely tell they no longer are working as hard for balls "not coming their way". BK is trying to shield JD from negative criticism, as he should. However, if JD can't read a defense at this point, it ain't happening. He's in his 4th year of starting. Zero passing yards in the 2nd half. Ashford for Auburn looked "prepared well enough" and he was making only his 2nd start ever.

I REALLY want to agree with you & appreciate the attempt to buck the general negativity, but did Aub reinvent the f*cking wheel on defense?
I also understand that JD is fresh with this staff but you should learn a little independent QB skill in 3.5 years of playing the position.
I’ma have to sell on this one.

Denbrock sucks big time and just as well could be a bum hire by Orgeron from the last 2 seasons.

His film from Az St is almost exclusively deep shots. We threw one last night.

QB draw should have been in the game plan imo, think it would have worked to make the Auburn defense make adjustments.

Stop with this fricking shite. Did you not learn from Les and early era O? You can’t win like this consistently in the SEC.
We all like winning games, but you can enjoy the win and still comment on glaring structural flaws.
I mean seriously how many years did we collectively try to say Les was doing ok because we eked out 4 SEC wins a season just like last night?
I’m not saying Kelly can’t improve or the team can’t, but “hey we won” is such a dumb rebuttal to the criticism of the offense.
