O hasn't earned either an extension, or a raise to this point. When he was hired, he said he was going to fix this offense. When he said "fix," unless he meant make it statistically worse in ever major and minor offensive category, he has not done his job.
He has earned the opportunity to fix this next year. But barring some major improvements in Offense next year, he has to go. You simply don't fire a Les Miles for not meeting a certain standard, then give his replacement a pass.

What recruiting? What culture? According to many these are our two biggest issues though I would add coaching.
If they extend him it should be for show with no buyout whatsoever.

no extension until after next season, no one is taking him off our hands, no reason to even discuss it... keep his salary and buyout low as hell, if he doesnt like it, he can carry his arse...

yep and this thread is an example of why we will go back to medocrity. I am anything but a O supporter, but most of ya'll are delusional.
You can't expect to beat bama every year nor should somebody be fired because they can't win one game. If he finishes the year at 10 & 2 he has earned atleast a 1 year extension. If you can't see that then you are delusional.
And we do run RPO for whoever said that.
Do we need to go away from pro style? absolutely. I say that in that we must go this route to have a chance to beat saban.
But to those that want to fire O, please realize nobody is beating saban with any regularity. Only 2 guys are recruiting with him and we can't afford either (kirby and dabo).

I don't mind extending him as long as there is no modification to his buyout figure.
All the extension would be for is appearances. No recruit is going to give a damn about his buyout figure so no reason to touch that.

he still has 3 years left. no need for an extension this year.
next year we extend him or fire him. again, 10-2 minimum. getting one 10 year win isn't enough to keep anyone here. need to win 10 games at least 2 outta 3 years.

Because most college football programs realize it isn't a good sign to a recruit when a coach is on the last year of his contract and isn't sure if he will be there the following year. If they are planning to keep him longer than a year, it makes sense to give him a small extension. That said, the buyout needs to be tiny since there aren't many teams trying to hire him away from us.
Also, let's be honest, no one pegged this team as a possible 10-2. most of the postigers had them at 9-3 at best or 8-4. The negatigers had them at 6-6 at best. Coach O has done a good job, he just hasn't beaten Bama and in all honesty, it doesn't look like any team in the country will this year.
