Clemson's regression over the years.

It could just be that they havn't recruited to the level that they had but it also seems to coincide with that case where they found PED's in a bunch of there supplements and athletes. Ostarine I believe it was. I havn't seen anyone really talk about this but how much of their good teams years prior could be due to PED's and the decline after getting caught/ more or less forced to stop using them?

I honestly don’t get it. Dabo was a top 3-5 coach in CFB for a long time and now he’s awful. He was one of the pioneers of modern offense so I don’t think the game has passed him by, just a weird situation

Didn’t dabo reject the nil notion and opt for a more traditional model of recruiting on development and education?

Having top coordinators/coaching staffs + high level quarterbacks can cover a lot of deficits in a head coach. Look at Orgeron and Bellichek.

Dabo being anti portal has become the talking point but Clemson’s big advantage during their run was buying players through that church, NIL killed that advantage, and they’ve been on the decline since

Venables defense covered a lot of Clemsons other bad coaching
Look at ou defense last year with venables calling plays
Also look at Virginia coach who used to be on staff
That uva team was way more physical than Clemson

Clemson was one of the first CEO head coach models where you put a figurehead in as HC and surround him with good coaches and coordinators. I remember it being said when Coach O was hired here. Only works when you have great coordinators but it’s not sustainable because you can’t keep them . Venables miraculously staying at Clemson as long as he did was the only reason they had any sustained success. That’s an even bigger reason than Dabo refusing to adjust to the new era.

EAA you are spot on he lost Venerables and Elliot and hasn’t replaced them with quality hires,just like O .The difference is Woodward sabotaged O.

Dabo was a successful coach for a long time, but the times have passed him by. Trevor Lawrence is gone and Clemson is not keeping up with the big boys in the NIL era, whether it be because of philosophy or funding. It probably comes down to the latter. I saw very few players in orange Saturday night that I would want in purple and gold, especially at the most important position, QB.

Loosing his two top coordinators has more to do with the decline. Look at OU, that was the dagger when BV left Clemson.

When did NIL start? Their curve downward started with that. Clemson bought HS players big time. Now everyone pays them. Advantage gone. You have to like Dabo not just the money. He is a clown.
