This is frequently attributed to Hawthorne but it never happened. He did tend to overcall deep balls (and how could you not in the 90's with juiced bats and low roof/sight line of the old Box) but this quote never occurred.

Agreed. I like listening to him.

Cincinnati—-let’s do the Jack Hunt catch next. Bozo the clown would have been an upgrade from Hawthorn in all sports. You would think that baseball being slow paced, he could keep up

I like Chris Blair. I actually liked Hanigriff.

I usually watch most of the games, but when I have to listen on radio, I know exactly what’s happening in the game.

Literally never happened

Matter of fact I’d bet you $1000 you couldn’t show me this

Go listen to some of the mlb radio broadcasts and it’ll blow your mind how good those guys are.

This is Peak Louisiana.

We don't want the best guy for the job... we want an average guy who sounds like us.

You can count on one hand the number of radio broadcasts you’ve actually heard during Blair’s career can’t you?

It’s definitely based in truth, but really exaggerated. I doubt he ever said those exact words but more than a few times he would call a home run before the ball eventually was caught. My favorite football when he’d say “there’s nobody gonna catch him!” 9/10 times a tackle was made.

These bull crap "examples" are so freaking exaggerated. They literally NEVER happened. I like Blair, but Hawthorne in his prime was the GOAT.

Being forced to listen to the radio tonight reminds me how bad Chris Blair is at announcing. No energy, no excitement, no clue what’s happening half the time. He made Jones’ double just now sound like a casual fly ball out.

Better than the Gus Johnsons of the world. I don’t need to be yelled at.

Don't like some of the things he says during football, like "Touchdown Fighting Tigers!" Sounds odd to me.

Don't think he is terrible, he is just different from the others that have announced in the past.
