How can CBS take 4 hours to broadcast yesterday’s game yet do the Saints in less than 3 hours?

because the nfl has regulations and shite and they have a game right after they have to broadcast.

Yep. The SEC clearly doesn’t have the clout to demand similar stipulations in the contract.

it's a pretty antiquated contract. i don't think it was done in mind that we would have so many stoppages in play as well as the offenses we now see.

It’s more of what bulletproof said! In the nfl the clocks keeps running after 1st downs. And halftime isn’t long at all. Plus I don’t see a lot of injury timeouts in the nfl.

I agree about the NFL clocks running and the 15 minute halftime but it's gotten absolutely ridiculous with these college games. Theres no continuity whatsoever when watching a CBS broadcast

A) halftime is reasonable. No rinky dink band to accommodate.

B) game timing rules in general.

LSU had roughly 30 first downs. I'm gonna guess Auburn had 15. (Not looking it up). That's about 225-450 seconds if you say that 5-10 seconds are taken to restart the clock. That's 3.75-7.5 minutes. Let's take the average. So 5.6 minutes

Add 5 minutes for halftime.

That's 10 or 11 minutes.

So basically, no. This is NOT why college FB sucks on CBS.

I don't understand why an injured player automatically trots the man with the 3-minute timer out onto the field. Makes it like a "between quarters" stoppage of play.

You guys haven’t been paying attention to college refs if you think “clock stops after first downs” is an issue. For the last three years that have been cranking that clock very quickly after setting the ball. They don’t wait for the chains to get anymore.

Does it have anything to do with 21 penalties called in the LSU game?

Yes it is. I think a lot of things will be addressed (and changed) when it comes time to renegotiate (I think 2023).

Money will be the biggest item, but there are lots of others things to address. (including commercials, length of games, etc)

The band was done well before the second half started it's not the band that's the issue

I was just thinking the same thing earlier. Seems like a lot more commercials during CBS college games.
