To be fair, what is he supposed to do? Stand around and wait for hugs?
There's a tradition in the Air Force that after a change of command, the outgoing commander, having already cleaned out his office, leaves before the reception. It's not his party any more. And, that's when the transition is part of the natural order. Get fired, and you are out and never get to talk to anyone.
I don't know what he said, so there are some scenarios where he said something inexcusable.
But, the fact that he only spoke for 5 minutes isn't that big a red flag to me.

We will immediately begin a national search for a new head football coach, and I am confident in our ability to bring to Baton Rouge an outstanding leader, teacher and coach, who fits our culture and community and who embraces the excellence that we demand.
From Woodwards letter - he obviously changed his mindset from when he hired Burger King !

That’s the key….everything about this hire was bad in my opinion. He doesn’t fit, the money was insane and the terms were totally stupid. Saban didn’t even have a 10 year contract at Bama initially.

And on top of that, Joe Dean, the athletics director at that time, went coach shopping at the "scratch and dent" store.
Ironic that the AD who hired the worst coach in LSU history also hired Saban, arguably the best. Although Mark Emmert, the new Chancellor back then is who really hired Saban.

What else is he supposed to do?
No shite. He was fired, acrimoniously. He doesn’t need to sit around and do exit interviews with each player. How many professions do yall know where someone is fired and allows to just hang out and say goodbyes for a couple hours on company property ?

To be fair to scone man, who is a clown, it sounds like this came together pretty fast
This year felt odd... we didn't land the big QB recruit, but we then went and ravaged the portal. And then we kept Nuss, a QB who possibly would have been drafted in the first 2 rounds (I think he'd have gone ahead of Shough). And we still got a very good recruiting haul.
This looked like the year.
Something happened to Nuss, and it was mismanaged. He tried to play through it since it's "only" pain and it's his money year, and Kelly gave him the greenlight to do that. But he couldn't, not enough to be effective. Kelly sold out the team to give his QB a chance to play for the NFL.
I honestly think with Van Buren, we beat Ole Miss and Vandy, and maybe get into a shootout with A&M (and with all their miscues, we might beat them). But then Nuss is locked into a Day 3 spot, or undrafted.

I’m happy Kelly is gone and I don’t like him. But he’s the only one of the 3 that is leaving the program better than he found it. Saban left the program in great shape for Miles. And no one can doubt how bad O drove the program into the ground.

Just like Tubs at Texas Tech, who slipped out quietly during a Christmas dinner celebration for the team.

I was laid off years ago. I couldn’t even clean out my desk. A team member did it for me by the end of the day and they left my stuff outside the office.
I’ll remember that day forever- I didn’t have time to tell my team goodbye

This begs the question of whether or not we're getting a new AD once the new university president is installed.

Exactly. A lot of coaches are told to gtfo immediately and probably won’t see their players at all. Sorry that happened to you.

We going to sit here and pretend Les didn't leave the program in good shape?
LSU had talent in 2016 and 2017
2017 team beats Bama if Etling had any sort of arm strength

What were y’all expecting him to do? Cry and hug everyone?
Seriously. The Rant goes the extra mile to find reasons to be mad at him. The teams performance is reason enough. How many minutes he spent talking to his players after being fired is not really indicative of anything. What more do you want a coach to tell his professional players after being shitcanned?

I didn’t say he did. Reading is hard.

It honestly bothered me for about a month. I just had received a nice performance bonus about 2 weeks prior. I had never been laid off before. My direct report let me go, his boss said he would be happy to talk with me. I called him a few times but obliviously he wasn’t gonna call me back.

If I were the head coach who recruited those players, yes, I would hug everyone before I left.
