I don’t watch as many games as Project I would guess but I keep up with a lot of teams for a variety of reasons. If they’re on LSUs schedule this year or even next year, entire SEC, top 25, in state, and a couple random ones if I have friends or friends kids/cousins/nephews playing.

I think Tony Vitello (Tennessee) or Eric Bakich (Michigan)

These guys should be 1b and 1c with Dan McDonald being 1A

all 3 would win multiple NCs here

Generally speaking I'm more interested in what long term coaches have done recently than 10+ years ago. We didn't fire Les Miles because he won a natty in 2007 and went to title game in 2011, we fired him when the program became stale and we weren't competing at a national level for nearly 5 straight years.

So when I always see this debate between Mainieri and O'Sullivan constantly on here, I dont really care as much what happened back in 2009, 2010, etc...but what's more recently happening.

I think in that regard, O'Sullivan has the edge on Mainieri. Look at the last 5 full years. UF has been to the CWS 4/5 times, won the whole thing once (over us) and made a regional the other year at least. LSU has made the CWS 2/5 times , and been to a super and 2 regionals in that time frame. When you factor in the shortened 2020 season as well, UF was off to a very hot start, and we were staring down a "are we even going to make a regional" type season as well.

So in this respect, I think O'Sullivan clearly has got the edge over Mainieri recently. This year is young, but without a doubt so far UF is out in front once again.

I'm not sitting here saying Mainieri should be out, but if we have yet another disappointing season and we can make a move like that, I'd probably do it.

But to answer the OP LSU is not getting O’Sullivan if they wanted him. There is zero reason for him to leave Florida. Even if LSU could pay him more money he is on a lifetime contract over there and the best talent in the region is in his state.

a friend of mine's son played for him, and I know this isn't necessarily a thing when it comes to winning games, but the kid, and he's a good kid, says Sullivan is an insufferable douche and everyone associated with the team hates his arse

There are former players that say that about CPM too. I don’t really care I already imagine to get to the level these guys are in their profession you have to have that type A personality that some may think comes off as douchey.

I try and watch as many as I can which isn’t that much anymore, but I do listen to some podcasts that cover more of the national scene to try and keep up with it as much as possible. I don’t like just getting perspective of LSU from people that only really watch them play. You can easily be blinded both good and bad on some things because you are too close to it.

yeah, I know, most coaches at the higher levels of any sport are typically douches, and players don't necessarily have to like them, a lot of folks don't realize how "professional" high level college athletics are, just killing time this morning, that's all

IF you are gonna go get someone, go get the Louisville coach. IF he says no then go get after the Arkansas coach. If he says no you go after the Dallas Baptist coach.

O Sullivan gets the best pitchers in the country besides VANDY. Pitchting has been CPMs problem for 10 years. We can't win three game series in the playoffs because after we use our ace we have nobody left. Vandy and FLorida have 3 aces basically every year.

TadLock - TTech

Vitello at Tenn

Jake Gautreu at Miss St (Prob only assistant Id hire for a head job such as LSU)

I would go after Vitello pretty hard and if he said no Id take the risk vs reward of Jake Gautrea...

That must be why Vandy went out of their way this year to get a kid to enroll early so they had a third starter.
