True. I know I'm getting a lot of downvotes but do you feel like I'm that crazy or off base with thinking Paul is going to be done soon?

Who knows, this team could mess around and make a CWS over these next 2-3 years.

Talent is there.

At Michigan, yeah, that's pretty good.

Rather someone with more sustained success. You don’t see Kentucky trying to get Trent Johnson because he won an SEC title

Is he?

Do you just believe that because he's not the coach at LSU?

No I truly believe that. I think CPM is a better coach than most on this board and don’t want him gone at all but understand if they made the move.

I am on record saying the guy LSU should get is Tony Vitello at Tennessee. He is the next great coach and is someone LSU can realistically get.

Just curious cuz you know about recruiting more than me, but why is LSU a harder recruiting situation than Florida?

Florida can recruit the most talented team in college baseball without getting on a plane.

If you want someone with sustained success, you keep Mainieri.

His records are as good as anyone big name out there.

My biggest issue with the fire Mainieri immediately crowd is that they couldn’t name 5 other coaches and the ones they do know they will be upset when they find out they aren’t leaving where they are to come to LSU. LSU is the only place in America where they will even consider firing you for not winning enough in Omaha. College baseball coaches like stability more than they like the big paychecks.

My bad Ell. Didn't mean to start such a hot topic. Was genuinely curious if people thought Woodward could pull a big name as he has done in football at Washington and A&M and in basketball at A&M. I thought most people assumed Paul would not be here much longer whether it was by retirement or mutual parting of ways.

as this is obviously coming to an end with Paul.

What makes you say this? Genuinely curious. I think it’s time for a change personally, but what makes you think it’s obviously coming to an end?

The metric clearly isn’t “failing to meet expectations” because Paul has been doing that for a few years now. Unfortunately I think we’ll have to wait for him to leave on his own terms

I think he has been failing to meet expectations for a few years now but now there is a new AD and he is also getting older. It seems maybe he would like to retire and spend time with his grandkids. Program seems stale. They have plenty of talent in spots but are not putting it together regularly the last couple years.

I would rather Lemonis from state. He is only making 600K per year. He did well at Indiana before going to Stsrkvegas.

You hit the nail on the head. The program is very stale.

Is he younger? Had Florida won a championship before him? Does he recruit better than Paul? Is their pitching better?

Yes. No. Yes. Yes.

Granted some of that recruiting could be attributed to the fact he is in probably the second best state in the country for baseball talent behind California.

again, this thread is literally one saying our current coach doesn’t win enough with his talent level.
and we want to hire a guy that actually wins less with even more talent.
