It must be Monday; Tiger fans wake up b*tching about something. Jay and team finally won an SEC series, instead of being excited about the future we crying about an announcer that half of the fans don't get to hear.

Chris Blair has a great “national” voice. He’d be fine on Westwood One
Basketball is his strength, but with baseball & football he’s not very good. His voice is professional but he has trouble following the action & describing it at the same time.
I heard Moscona once say that Blair did not really want to do baseball, but lsu obligates their PBP person to do all sports:

really baseball is the only sport I'll somewhat listen on the radio for a few minutes here and there while driving somewhere on the weekend. Other than that, for football or basketball just stream on the phone if I'm on the go.

But it's not about the radio listeners. It's about the 20-second sound bite during THE BIG PLAY that, in today's culture, is played on repeat across social media. I completely agree. Great voice if I was about to tune into Sirius XM and listen to Coltrane, but when you represent a school with such passionate fans, you need to match that.

Hanny would be great. Would love to have him doing baseball
Maan can we start a petition or something to get this done?? This HAS to happen. Blair can keep all the other sports.

Listening to him on the radio is brutal.... balls that go yard are nonchalant.... balls that are easily caught before the warning track are hyped up to the point where hes screaming only to end with and the play is made a few feet from the warning track....
Turrible
Turrible

Blair is not good at all and is a misery to listen too. With all these new coaches we need a new announcer!

I thought so too. But in the games I listened to this season he was noticeably worse than he was at the beginning of his tenure. I'm hoping he was just checked out given the overall state of the program

That broadcast team had to be out of room at times. Just dead silence for what seemed like forever. I agree with the home run 'call' just terrible. For as much crap as Lyn Rollins gets on this board he always has his classic home run call loaded up and ready to go!

Passing on Hanny to be the voice of the Tigers was criminal.
Hanny only wanted baseball. LSU wanted the same person for all 3 men’s sports.

He would be great for depression medication commercials

We were on a 5 hour drive yesterday and started the game an hour into our trip and it was still on when we got to where we were going. It was on so long his voice was making my wife mad. Like we had to mute it, mad!

Blair is ok Very professional voice. But not a homer.
Hawthorne was a homer. Passionate with a true love for LSU and a distinctive radio voice when that was so important. You could hear the agony and disappointment in his voice when the Tigers screwed up.
But he got old. Sucks. Will happen to all of us.

Being a homer is a MAJOR part of the job for a universities radio announcer.

Never really liked him. He's just so sterile and generic. Plus he really fricking sucks at calling baseball, which is the sport I listen to on the radio most. The older I get, the more I miss Hawthorne and all of his quirks. He would piss me off plenty, but damnit he was ours.
