As for hospitalizations on the Coast, Bond explained Singing River Health System has 4 in the ICU and 8 in isolation in a med surge unit in Ocean Springs. In Pascagoula, there are 12 in the ICU and 8 in the med surge unit, with a total system wide of 32.
Bond says there’s been a lot of questions about the order of capacity. “Certainly it’s a concern if we continue the trend upward along the Coast. Right now, we are far away from that 10 percent capacity with 53 available rooms, we’ve got about 39 percent capacity. We never get at full capacity in the ICU. No hospital does. There are some places in Jackson, they have one ICU bed available period. It’s a way to put a trip wire in to where they ask hospitals to try to stay at that 10 percent capacity or they’ll have to cancel elective surgeries.”
This hospital has around 150 available beds and isn't using anywhere near its capacity
Nice try

Do you guys really think the whole world has shut down and destroyed their economies to keep Trump from being elected?
Not the whole world but the United States I absolutely believe the Democratic politicians are using the virus to keep the economy shut down for as long as they can and hopefully until after the election.
They know as soon as things open back up the economy will skyrocket and would make Trump look good instead of maybe putting a competent person that isn’t losing his mind to run against him.

quote:Well, in my opinion, you have players from 3 or more major conferences penning demand letters with a broad subjective list that will be lawyer porn in 20/20 hindsight used to sue everyone if anyone gets damaged from covid. If any players get anything other than a MILD case of covid, everyone will get sued from the school to the conference to the NCAA. As the powers that be work through the "cover your arse" language of all the new regulations for this season, they are realizing that the liability may be too great.
Can someone tell me what has changed with covid that is making these power 5 conferences
want to push back the season?

Interesting that the countries run by women are doing the best in this pandemic

Stats prove we are a tricked population:
This ain’t the Spanish flu. Risk to school age kids is less than respiratory illnesses we deal with every year.
Even with the funny math they are using, statistically this is a small percentage of overall US deaths and not much deadlier than pneumonia and flu.
US fatalities from February 1- August 1, 2020
Age range 5-14 had 2,611 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 130 of those. Covid was responsible for 20.
Age range 15-24 had 16,553 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 297 of those. Covid was responsible for 225.
Age range 25-34 had 33,993 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 909 of those. Covid was responsible for 1074.
Age range 35-44 had 48,090 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 1,761 of those. Covid 2728.
Age range 45-54 had 89,394 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 4,254 of those. Covid was responsible for 7,299.
Age range 55-64 had 206,614 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 11,944 of those. Covid 17,583.

Dude you caught me. I was making everything up. We aren't having a surge and making plans to increase the ICU capacity of both hospitals in the system. This is fake news and it isn't as bad as the flu.
The funny thing is there is no one on this board that wishes this was all fake more than me. Be safe and I really hope I am 100% wrong about this.

The bottom line is healthcare providers or "people in the know" have been coming on here for MONTHS saying what you are saying now and EVERY TIME
EVERY
FREAKING
TIME
We just pull the public records on the hospital usage and stats to prove time and again they are overreacting

Yep, absolutely! Because THEY (the Chicoms) want control of the whole world and their economies. This ChiCom Virus originated in China. It was brought into this country by Chinese operatives.
The ChiComs have corrupted everybody.....the Democrat Party, the MSM, even the Vatican. Plus they make everything, including your medicine. Most likely the antibiotics you're taking was prolly manufactured in China.
As far as I can tell the only world leader standing up (effectively) to the ChiComs and their cronies is........(wait for it).........Donald J. Trump. IMO that is why he has a target painted on his back.
The Chinese Dragon is raging and hungry.

You know how when you're dealing with something stressful particularly with an overly anxious woman? And there is that time when she starts to lose it and wants to pull the plug and make a decision early? Not because it follows any logic, not because she's being calculated and patient. But because she just loses it and says, "frick it, I'm out". And you have to talk some sense into her to tell her to calm the frick down?
That's what the nation is doing right now in regards to football. Well shite, not just football but with everything. Instead of calming the frick down - they're into full fledged fear porn on the news, mass hysteria mode. And of course, it doesn't help that you have the hospitals looking to make extra federal funding and cooking up the numbers to make it look three times worse than it really is.
It really makes no sense to pull the plug on the season for a Power 5 school. I don't give a shite what the group of 5 schools do, because quite frankly they don't really have a season if they aren't playing one of the big boys. Of course they're gonna come out and say they're cancelling. They've already taken a hit. They act like they're coming out and making some brave decision to cancel when in fact, they really have no choice but to do so. But that decision that the MAC made should have zero bearing on what any of the Power 5 conferences decide to do.

Universities had to be open and some in person teaching to allow college football. They were going to have fans in the stands. It wont be like the pros with no fans. College athletics needed fans in the stadium to exist.
College campuses are realizing its very difficult to hold in person classes this fall.
Issue is you can see MLB is a huge failure. If you cant trust athletes making millions to preserve their own job how can you trust a college kid making $0 to preserve their own job and future.

Not a damn thing has changed which means:
1. AD's/Universities honestly believed no players would test positive for covid during the season
OR
2. Universities are caving to political pressure to cancel season
(Hint: It's not 1)

You are! If you truly work in the healthcare system and haven’t already seen enough from this virus to know that it’s nothing more than a cold then you are full of shite! Either that or my family and all of the people that I know that have had it must be invincible. Hell I have one good kidney and I smoked the whole time I had it. Tell the truth about this “killer virus “ or GTFO !!!

It doesn’t matter how sick you get. You can’t shove the shite back in the horse. A tsunami is washing over the country no matter how much people go kicking and screaming about it. The PandaMedia already took care of everything for you and it’s too late. it’s over.

Yes.
Sweeden and NYC both have herd immunity (although they each got there differently). How else can you account for their numbers (deaths)? Nobody wants to talk about this. Why? Increased testing = increased "discovered" cases. And, have you read the CDC's "instructions" as to what constitutes a CoVid case? The number of cases/deaths has been grossly overstated/reported.
