Baker’s scheme was solid against Vandy for 90% of the game.

Woah. They didn't punt until the 4th quarter. They held the ball almost all game and made third and long look like child's play. Not to mention leaving the middle of the field wide open.

Baker got exposed again. Not just exposed, but he tripled down on what hasn't worked against mobile QBs since he got here.

Nothing is going to change. Time to accept we have a bottom tier offense, and a defense that is only good against teams not in the top 70 on offense. Ceiling now for this team is 8-4.

I can agree as ive seen countless bad angles on runners etc by him. Also, some people may disagree but it helps 100% when you have a good level of intelligence playing these positions to absolutely line up correctly, read "your" key and take proper angles on runners and/or pass.

There are several things that are near guarantees with BK’s teams. #1 - we cannot run the ball in the red zone, and #2 - we cannot stop dual threat QBs.

Maybe we could get Chief back as a consultant to teach BB how to defend the mobile QB. I seem to recall we had a pretty good plan against Johnny Football when Chief ran the D.

No, even if he could, the players can’t execute it.

No...much like Vandy, A&M will likely score TDs on the majority of their possessions. We'll move the ball. But it will be painful to watch.

Nuss will be bum rushed and take bad sacks and throw the ball all over the place, including to their team. Occasionally, he might get lucky ala at Vandy and have big play.

And Brian Kelly will be back at the podium with the challenge of coming up with new and different excuses as to why LSU lost.

Don't need to completely shut down the QB run. You can't completely shut down a running QB. You have to get them off schedule to 3rd and long. We need a better plan on what we will do on 3rd and long to keep them in the pocket and force them to make longer throws down the field against our secondary than taking off and scrambling for 10 yards.

Keeping him in the pocket needs to be a group effort by the front 7. Instead of going for the sack, break down and contain. If he has to release the ball earlier than he wants to because of pressure, you win because our corners will be sticky or he makes the wrong read. If he has to throw on the run, he will miss his receivers. If he gets nervous and tries to scramble, you contain him with numbers and bring him down.

Against Pavia, they were blitzing without discipline as if he was a pocket passer with reckless abandon, but the plays were there to be made with better contain.

I wouldn’t really classify lagway as a dual threat guy and sellers is playing behind a line worse than LSU’s.

You know, this defense is just not what people had hyped. It is not. The way that Pavia flummoxed them all game was extremely disappointing. They will struggle against Aggie especially considering the offense will continue in its torpor. Next year, baws!

The offense moved the ball during the Vandy game. The defense didn’t get off the field regardless of what the offense did.

Not when you have defensive players getting too aggressive with their rush to where QB can easily break containment. think it is just a discipline issue vs. the natural instinct to just go sack the guy.

That's the difference here. Reed's completion % dips noticeably when he's forced out of the pocket. Reed's career completion % outside the pocket is 46.5% (36% this season) compared to 63.6% in the pocket. Thus my idea that flushing him out of the pocket might be the better strategy since he has not show to be a good passer when he runs. But, it's going to require discipline to take good angles to keep him in front instead of just trying to chase him down.

Lagway is not a dual threat QB.

The Ole Miss and Vandy offenses looked like "old school" spread offenses that capitalized on their dual threat qb with read option and designed QB runs. The same type of offense that we struggled to stop last year against A&M and others.

Florida and South Carolina did not run the same type of offense as Ole Miss and Vandy.

Correct me if I am wrong but didnt Reed decimate us last yr on read option runs rather than scrambles?
