If we couldn’t get for cause with Miles and O, it’s a pipe dream to nail BK.

L.O.P. Lack of production

Usually the head coach gets 25% of the buyout (principal) at termination and the balance is paid out over 4 or 5 years.
Assistants get what is left on their contract at termination.
25% for head coach and assistants get it all in one check (unless they want to payment over time).

Put Sloan back coaching the QB and go get a real OC. Kick Brad Davis to the curb and see if we can get his old boss Pittman. He might take the job just for spite because I know he didn’t like the way Brad Davis quit on him.

Sloan is the scapegoat this year. Maybe Davis too. Somone is getting canned
Every defensive coach, as of today is safe.

Oh yeah. We can afford to do that.

Jesus Christ guys we lost one game. Let’s wait for a second loss before we buyout our 10-win coach. Not saying it won’t happen but get a grip.

The defense is in good shape and we should realistically have Baker for at least one more year before a good enough team to actually get him to be their head coach comes hunting. Most P2 coordinators are not even considering G5 jobs anymore unless they need some career rehab.
Replace Sloan and Davis and we are likely to see a significant improvement with the right hires. It would also be possible to move Atkins to OL and then you are just looking for another TE or QB coach to go with the new OC.
There’s no overriding reason to get rid of Frank and Hankton isn’t some major issue, either. Not unless a new OC demanded it. Even then I don’t think Frank would be going anywhere.
This would be a relatively affordable move to make that leaves plenty of money to go get the OC we need, similar to how the Baker situation was handled.

I'm pretty sure Kelly gets monthly payments for the duration of his contract if he is terminated. The assistants are usually paid a lump sum, as you stated.

Does it really matter? It’s still 100 million. You would kill NIL cash for the next 4-5 years. Boosters aren’t paying buyouts plus 15 million per for a squad.

I’ve seen multiple Hog fans warning those talking about him against that. He evidently didn’t recruit particularly well across the OL after Davis left and didn’t do as good a job as expected in development, at least not based on his reputation. He may just be done at this point.
Either promote Atkins (he was a scapegoat for FSU, but had very good OL play there in 22 and 23) or go get another up and coming coach rather than a re-tread like Pittman, who just had a hip replacement a year ago a could barely move before that.

We got plenty of sleazy lawyers, the chicken billionaire although raised in Baton Rouge, went to school at University of Georgia. He’s got restaurants in 41 states, they all buy chicken. It’s like Michael Jordan said when asked why he doesn’t fool with politics (Democrats) he replied
“Republicans buy sneakers too”
Well I assume Graves says “All College football fans eat chicken fingers too “

What is it if we hire Baker to replace him and retain most or all of the defensive staff?
Posted on 9/29/25 at 4:22 pm to SloaneRanger
Jimbo was $77M with $20M being due in 60 days. If A&M can do it, why can’t we?

$76.375m to part ways and probably $100m+ to assemble a new staff and get them to jump from where they are.
No but there will be some moves made fyi.
