Burrow: “I just tried to play a little more conservative. Their front 7 is really good. I didn’t want to take too many chances because I knew how good our defense was. I didn’t want to throw any interceptions. We wanted to keep that turnover chain in the box.”

It was the right move last night. Why unveil everything when we don’t have to? I’m hoping Auburn will see him without a leash.

As painful as it was to watch, it was the correct strategy.

No need to unleash the beast that is burrow yet. He showed he was elite in the first half.

I'm hoping it's just first game and not bc of the defense. Miamis D won't be the last good D we see

It’s true we didn’t need to do more to win. (The score confirms that.). But I would have liked to see more in the second half. It’s a cliffhanger.

No reason to get cute and take chances in the second half. Putting in second string was the wrong move. Should have put a boot on their necks and made a statement. Only real issue I saw last night.

On defense, I think it was a good move. Get some experience for the backups against a good team before SEC play. Plus the injury bug was hitting us hard on defense, gave them time to rest and I'm sure it helped a shite ton.

The fact that he has discretion and the ability to make substantive decisions regarding playcalling from the field is absolutely huge. That requires a LOT of sophistication. For him to have that type of command this early is a statement that this offense is much further along than it appeared Saturday.

We could be in for a lot of fun, gents.

I'd slow the roll just a little here. He was solid, smart, and a good team leader. I didn't see any throws, though, that screamed "elite." I'm not saying he can't make them, or that he won't end up being a great quarterback for LSU, but let's not anoint him one of the best in college football quite yet.

We've won championships with QB's who had that mind set.

Sounds like a guy that brought his lunch pail to work and ate that tuna sandwich and apple at his cubicle desk.

What impressed me was how often he would throw the ball away instead of taking a sack or trying to make something happen.
