"Wrong, focal points of a university worth its salt is in the classrooms, labs and library."

Not at LSU, the only university where the athletic endowment is bigger than the academic endowment.

"It just means more - than even an education."

Need to tear down the PMAC play a season or two in the River center and build a new arena in the same exact spot.

Negative

Move T&F over by the new Tennis facility.

Put New PMAC and practice facilty where T&F currently sits.

Demo Old PMAC and create a large greenspace like the parade grounds for tailgating.

LSU athletics lost $80 M last year. TAF is not a bottomless pit. With the average attendance the past several years, where is the demand to justify spending millions of dollars more?

. It's still great to walk in there and look around...so much history in that place.

I remember when I had to go through registration in there. If you had to pull cards for a class you had to go on the floor area, gladiator event.

“If you build it, they will come”!
Why did we build a new box? Especially since baseball is not a huge revenue generator, because they built suites and club seating, which generate more revenue.
For the PMAC, 4 sports use the venue and you could dramatically increase the revenue by having these seating options available

All the buildings on the Quad are some 50 years older than the PMAC. Should we tear all of those down and start over?

After all, they seem terribly "dated".

The difference is the quad buildings will be funded by tax dollars. A new arena will be funded by athletic money (which does not come from taxes).

And…build a new arena, collect more money. Collect more money and that’s more money the Athletic Dept gives to the university and that’s more money the university has to build new quad buildings. Crazy how that works.

Build T&F a new setup along the river past the box and then build a new PMAC on the corner lot.

I love the PMAC and would hate to see it go. If a renovation isn't cost effective for what the university/basketball/gymnastics needs, however, a teardown might be required.

Like it was said on here before the Ga Tech arena is a good example of what could be done to the PMAC. The PMAC is much bigger though so more could be done. The group LSU hired did this work.

That would be awesome. Would also be happy with something like the Ferttita Center at UH. I like the open area concept club level on one side. It increases income and, while it lowers capacity, that isn't an issue for 95% of the games.

100 percent chance you would have to pay for this tailgating spot.

me too. Chaos.

I remember getting to the front of the line at the same time as a girl who I knew from high school. Only one slot left for the 11:30 calculus class. Being the gentleman I am, I let her have it.

And I got the 7:30 am calculus class, 5 days a week. Brutal.

Not sure if Wade and Mulkey’s wish list

I am for giving a coach what they need but building a new arena because it is on a coaches wish list when they likely won't be here 10 years from now is insane. That being said the PMAC definitely needs to have a major overhaul but there is nothing wrong with the guts of the building that I know of. Just gut the inside completely and redo it in the style of something like what Auburn has.

The new one would probably also be named “Dale Brown Court.” And to have the ceremony shortly before building a new arena is probably a more lasting tribute than you think.

Three of the four programs that use it are huge revenue losers. The suites plus big ticket increases for WBB and Gymnastics would be in order if a major project is undertaken. Just doing what we’ve always done won’t work.

I like the idea of building the new arena in a new location and making the current PMAC either an outdoor plaza/green space for tailgating, live music, college gameday etc with tiger stadium as a backdrop.

OR

An expansion of Mike’s habitat so we can finally earn that accreditation.
