I hate passive aggressive pricks like this. Many before Brooks have tried to stir up
shite here and make a name for themselves but it doesn’t work out for them.

I will not click on his article but here is his baiting tweet:

“Ed Orgeron's update reveals #LSU's case totals were higher than what was previously publicly known, and the news follows months of public speaking events and national TV appearances in which Orgeron said the football season should continue.“

Does O have an obligation to tell the media about a player testing positive?

The public has no 'right' to know anything about the LSU football team other than coach's salaries bc they are public employees.

And what if most players were asymptomatic ? Why would a coach advocate to cancel a football season over that ?

Brooks is a little prick but O screwed up by saying that. I knew it was going to cause a shitstorm the second he said it.

It's a positive, not a negative.

Why would people who were sick and are now fine be a negative (except in the minds of idiots).

He's sorta burying the lead here. Turns out that healthy 18-22 yr olds (plus Von Rosenburg) are statistically not really impacted by the virus. An entire football team contracted the virus and lo and behold they are fine. Had those players been living in the public and not closely supervised, they would have still been fine but the odds of them spreading it to an actual vulnerable population would have been greater.

Brooks will be looking for employment elsewhere if he keeps it up.

He wanted to be able to pump the fear weekly every time a “case” came up.

So Brooksy is saying it's a bad thing that more players had it with no negative effects?

He's right. We definitely should have shut the season down since more players were asymptomatic.

Preaching to the choir.

The media who has been pushing fear for months will spin this as a negative. They'll push the narrative that schools didn't handle covid well, were lucky, and took a blind chance because football>human lives. I think those points are silly but that's what you're going to get and O can only blame himself. I appreciate the guy's transparency and availability but he's got to learn that sports writers don't have his best interest at heart. Deep down these guys, especially nationally, would love to see him fall of the mountain.

Brooks knows the only way to really make it in this business is to get bait clicks
Otherwise he's stuck at the Advocate in Baton Rouge that will be lucky to still be in business in 10 years
Their coverage of LSU is about the only thing they can really rely on

It doesn't matter what any sec school tests these days, they are only following conference guidance.
The SEC wants to play, as a conference you are obligated to play.

And no one is ill, no one is going to suffer, and football should continue. Life should continue. Except for the old and informed, everyone should be wide open and let the chips fall.

Nah. Coaches are not considered covered entities under HIPAA.
