I don’t see why not. They’re as competitive as GT and SEC elite tier Georgia plays them to end every season. Why can’t we have a gimme permanent opponent too?

basically a home game for LSU

In more recent encounters, yes. But in back-to-back Tulane games in 1972 and especially in 1973, Tulane essentially bought out the stadium. LSU tickets for the 1973 game were hard to get and at least 70,000 attendees of the nearly 87,000 total were Tulane fans. Tulane also had a majority for their wins in 1979 and 1981.

YouTube video Tulane HC said makes sense to play LSU it’s an 1 and 45 minute distance to tiger stadium no flight. If Tory can play @ Alabama and Auburn and that Ohio state seems like they host every instate opponent so why shouldn’t Tulane play @ LSU. So sounds like the HC doesn’t mind playing @ LSU for a guaranteed game.

it seems like it’s the AD who only wants to do a home and home.

But the YouTube video person did said it doesn’t mean much for lsu to host Tulane like ya he would rather lsu player Tulane at tiger stadium during week 1 rather than lsu travels to Clemson during week 1 but there is really nothing special or a real reason for lsu to play Tulane all lsu is doing is writing a check to Tulane just like lsu does for ULM LA Tech and all the other instate G5 / FCS programs that plays at tiger stadium doesn’t determine lsu’s season like the 8 conference games and the P5 OCC games does.
Also said playing Tulane in September also makes no sense, lsu would never have a sell out croud in a 100k plus capacity Stadium in a hot September day. Also he is also saying (even though isn’t all the words the YouTuber said) but Tulane shouldn’t get special treatment they should be treated like any other instate / out of state G5 opponent it shouldn’t be a lot of fans priority to play Tulane when Tulane doesn’t bring anything on the table and that there will be barely any Tulane fans at tiger stadium. Like he said before lsu will just write a check to Tulane and that’s it.

Tulane is in that awkward spot of being good enough to beat us every 8-10 years, but bad enough that it's not a quality win to beat them. It's Lose/Lose.

They seem like a team that would be ranked 20-25 but if you beat them theyll drop out the top 25…

this isnt high school ball… why would there be a lot of the other teams fans (any other team) when there’s 90,000 LSU fans there.

Heck let’s convince Sewanee to start their football program back so we can add them too along with Georgia Tech so LSU can reunite with the ancient SEC members.

Did you read any of my posts?

Going forward, we have to schedule a P4 OOC game every season. For Georgia, Ga Tech satisfies that condition. UGA can, in theory, schedule pure cupcakes for the rest of the OOC and they're good.

Tulane simply does not. They aren't P4, so we don't gain anything from playing them. If we add them, we still need to find a P4 opponent.

A P4 team will likely want home-and-home, especially now that it's a mandatory game for SEC teams. You have to balance that against a 9 game SEC schedule, which means every other year you have 5 road games. You're not going to take a road game the same year you have those 5 road conference games.

Now, add Tulane to the mix. Will they agree to play only in Tiger Stadium, every season? If so, add them if you like. If not, you'd be looking at yet another road game.

We have nothing to gain by playing Tulane, The networks aren't going to give us a big payday for that game because Tulane is not of interest to anyone outside of New Orleans. Furthermore, Tulane has lost two generations of its local fans.
Why bother? We have enough on our agenda with 9 SEC games.

And this is from someone who grew up with the LSU - Tulane rivalry.
I did not go to the 62 - 0 game in 1965 but I have been to every one of them since, home and away.

I don't want to play Tulane every year, but if I did, I would want it to be in September in the superdome to avoid playing outdoors in September heat.

Nothing excites me about Tulane. Never did. Even back in the 70’s and 80’s.
