yeah i dont care what anyone says, that man took a depleted roster and made a 10 win team.. he deserves a ton of credit.
I would say Brian Kelly did this, but if there is a percentage of this that can be contributed to Polian, I agree. He deserves a ton of credit for doing this part of his job and it would've been nice to have kept him on in the role Kelly chose for him.

I thought he did a great job, the players cost him his job.
You thought he did a great job as special teams coach?? His unit was literally the worst in the country. Out of all divisions. They were poorly prepped, poorly coached, out of position, we had a shite scheme, and showed almost no improvement until he was given help by Kelly. They cost us the opportunity to win the FSU game outright and cost us a second opportunity to go to OT. They were so bad, Kelly had to put the entire special teams unit in a form of safe mode. We went punt safe on returns to prevent negative yardage/turnovers, never came close to scheming to block a punt, and other teams were a threat to house every single punt and kickoff for the entire year. The only silver lining was they were so sketchy, it made Kelly's decision to go for 2 against Bama even easier.
He was so bad, any reasonable person would've questioned Kelly's abilities as a head coach if he had NOT fired Polian from his duties as ST coach.

The blocked kicks in the FSU game were on him. 100%

BK did a stand up job not throwing him under the bus by all his comments about scheme was good, just execution was terrible and all that shadow talk. Have to respect BK as a leader, and taking the high road and just letting him go at the right time, I mean take another job…ST was still a disaster in the Spring game, at least the kicking looked terrible from our standards, so got to give it to BK In handling this very classy. This is a career for these guys and those they provide for, as we sometimes forget, in our zest to win it all…..

I think we need to expect less, in that one aspect, for years to come.

an off the field coach was causing problems on the staff
I would be shocked if that was Polian.
He gets hate here for special teams, but I’ve never heard a hint that he was anything but professional.
If he was, then good riddance, but I doubt it.

I could not give a $hit ! Our ST's went downhill with no improvement at all.

No longer, as in he was STC coordinator last year and was moved to a GM position (no longer STC) in February.
Do y’all really not know this?

Anyone else have to look up John Carroll University?

Polian was all in with Baton Rouge.
That’s hard to find.
Sucked on the field but wish he would have stuck around as like a GM like old Austin Thomas.

I hated him as a coach, but thought he was basically director of personal and recruiting now so it seemed like a perfect fit.
I’m kind of bummed.

listening to Culotta....fairly obvious who booted him from attending practice
and of course he has guys he'd hire for the job that just so happen to be guys that would give him more access. Dude will never learn

Polian was probably planning to work out Anderson as a punter and switch Ramos to kickoff returns.
