It's not that. CBK is all about attention to detail, and that clearly wasn't there in the ST meeting rooms this year. Started from the first game with the missed blocking assignments on FG, and all the muffed punts. I understand Brian Polian might have been an awesome recruiter at ND, but look at what he's pulled here at LSU, it's nothing special.

I want him gone, but I think he stays at least 1 more year. But I could see a F-up in game 1 next year and an immediate relieving of duties. I don't think Kelly is going to put up with that next year.

In the age of NIL and Transfer Portal it cannot be overstated the importance of the roster manager. The Ringer-Change is Coming in College Football Polian is BK's guy. He isn't being let go.

ND was light years better on Special Teams without him and according to recruiting rankings doing better without him as well.

He's recruiting coordinator, correct? Didnt Frank Wilson have this title before? I thought Frank Wilson was considered an elite recruiter. I cant see how anyone can take Polian seriously after his disaster on special teams

For those of you that think he deserves another year, we had 40 punt return yards for the year. Not averaged, we had a total of 40 punt return yards for the YEAR.

Add that to the blocked kicks and that alone should be enough for him to WANT to resign.

Keep him for recruiting, he obviously cannot juggle the two at one time. Get a replacement that can concentrate just on STs only and let him recruit.

you can’t “just recruit” he has to coach something.

Who is he recruiting as a coach? Is he going into homes and working the high schools in a specific area? I am honestly asking, I do not know. If his skill set is more towards the GM side of things (like his Dad), kick him upstairs and make him director of football operations, or director of recruiting. Hell invent a position for him, anything to get him away from coaching special teams. He absolutely sucks at that part of the job.

Keep him as recruiting coordinator. Hire a new special teams coach.

If Polian needs to keep his on-field position for recruiting, hire a ST advisor and tell Polian "do EXACTLY what he (advisor) tells you to do".

The fact that Polian is still running special teams on a day to day basis (which by all accounts, he is) makes me question Kelly's attention to detail. It is not like they cost us a game against FSU and then improved through out the year. There have been continued issues in every phase of the kicking game. There is not one positive facet to special teams. The best thing you can say about them is we have become average at kicking FG's when they aren't blocked and returned for touchdowns.

None of this screams "attention to detail".

Couldn't even catch the ball. They finally admitted it was teaching instruction of hand placement. Simply mind boggling Polian is still listed as Special Teams coach.

Can’t communicate if you don’t know them. Polian knows nothing about special teams.

Special Teams is the area of the game most affected by poor depth.
