Based on an interview Mainieri did with jerry ratcliffe friday.
Towards the end of the interview, Mainieri said “i wish i couldve gotten him to succeed me at lsu, but he wouldnt bite. He loves virginia and wants to be the coach there and nowhere else.”

Until proven wrong (and I'm sure I will be) I continue to believe the approach is to try to throw a massive contract at Corbin (similar to the Jimbo and Mulkey deals). If it doesn't work, Godwin is the fallback.
