The main thing that makes me think it was at least partially an act is his degree in Economics from the University of Michigan.
I know people with multiple degrees from Harvard, and they're idiots.
Getting a legit degree from a very good university is an impressive feat. No question. But it just means you can pass enough tests to get the diploma. Doesn't necessarily mean more than that.
Remember, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex got an econ degree from Boston University, another very good school, and she's an absolute moron.
Part of Les' shtick was an act - but a lot of it was real. The guy isn't smart.

After 11 1/2 years of following him as our head coach, I still didn't know if that was an act or the way his brain actually works.
I'm still not sure that he didn't have a stroke at some point.

I thought it was painfully obvious he used his quirky nature to keep heat off his players.

I know a few people with degrees from Harvard in either business or law and none of them are idiots, just the opposite.
I have never personally interacted with the man, so I have no way of knowing this to be true or false.

For all his bullshite Les was the best at this. Just say a bunch of gibberish and basically tell the media to frick off
I still have PTSD over wondering if we were going to have Alfred Blue for the Alabama game in 2012.

From a fan's perspective, this is better than just hearing that a guy is out when they announce the starting line up Saturday.
Bad take... as a fan I want every opportunity to win the game. If I know who is unavailable. So does the other team.
I'd rather be able to use an injured player as a decoy, or whatever the case may be.

Not really necessary, though. There are many very intelligent people who struggle to express themselves coherently, particularly when speaking in public. What was extremely odd was seeing what appeared to be one of those people as the head coach of a major college football team responsible for addressing large audiences (live and televised) on a regular basis.

Elizabeth Warren is the poster child for academia-influenced political posturing. Every time she talks about economics I want to throw a heavy object through my TV screen.

I've heard several times that when he wasn't in that setting, he spoke completely normal, like anyone else does (except Orgeron). He did that on purpose.

I always thought that was a possibility. But to affect incoherence that effectively and consistently is impressive.

I'm not sure why he decided to do this, unless he knows of some forthcoming NCAA requirement to do so. There's no way Nick Saban, Kirby Smart or Lane Kiffin will let that weekend's opponent know who is hurt or playing before the game.
Same, im not sure how this benefits him and the program
