Perkins and his people want him to learn how to play middle linebacker because they think that is what his ticket will be in the NFL. They see him as the "Next Ray Lewis".

Using him like the cowboys do Persons is the best for everyone. Our D coordinator specializes in coaching inside lbs. let the dude coach him up.

This little boy is not Micah Parsons. Damn. Can we stop making that comparison

Perkins didn't have a bad season at all last year. The problem is the people in this board expect him to replicate his game against Arkansas every single game. That's not realistic. Can he have a much better season than last year? Absolutely. But he's not going to just destroy every opponent, especially when we don't have a defensive line that teams have to worry about.

I would trust Blake baker a lot more to get Perkins up to speed at inside linebacker than House.

Also perk does not have the size to be an every down outside linebacker or pass rusher. Baker will still plan to blitz and rush perk in a variety of different positions in passing situations to maximize his ability.

Well there was that time you tried to make a serious argument about why we should move Jayden Daniels to WR.

Ya, there are lots of people that think he should lead the league in sacks, tackles, interceptions, forced fumbles, qb pressures, etc etc. Its laughable.

Jacoby Stevens. He wasn't big enough to play LBer and he wasn't a good enough cover guy to play in the secondary.

he also ran like a 4.6 40 and wasn't half the athlete Perkins is

Ray Lewis wouldn't play MLB in today's game
He would play outside LB/edge rusher like Hassan Reddick

Perkins isn't going to carry 240#

Greenlaw and Warner are good comps for Perkins

This time? So you want him lined up in the slot like he was last year? Lmao! Perkins at ILb was not the issue. Perkins not playing Ilb and the lack of coaching at all 3 levels of the defense and talent deficiencies were the issues.

THIS. Some act like he'll never rush the passer again. He'll be at ILB to make plays. On passing downs he will very likely be moved to an edge position and/or come from the ILB spot creating more chaos. From ILB he will also be positioned as a spy as needed (i.e Milroe) to DROP any running QB. Trust the plan.

Perkins’ best current comp in the NFL is probably Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah for the Browns

Was a tweener out of ND. 6’ 1.5” 221 & is really thriving & a chess piece box player.

I do wonder if Perkins loves football as much as JOK tho

Again, you’re using those terms with no understanding of what you’re saying. There is no such thing as a tweener LB. When projecting a certain player to the next level, there can be confusion as to what his position will be, hence the label. The linebacker position has much more coverage responsibilities now and you are confused because you’re using silly terms like “enforcer linebacker” and whatnot.

Again, it is you that doesn't understand terms. BTW, when did I ever use the term "tweener LB"? Oh yeah, I didn't, so quick making up terms and applying them to me. The term tweener obviously states that it is a player who unfortunately is not perfectly pegged for a position. Since you have problems understanding football, I will help you out.

Tweener: a player who can't qualify completely for some position due to liabilities in that position. For example: Harold Perkins is not strong enough or big enough to be a LOS rusher just lining up there. Perkins is also not strong enough to take on and dispense with blockers and therefore tackle consistently enough to play a run stopping LBer position. As far as a safety type, his pass coverage skills aren't quite up to those those standards yet at least.

Thus, the term tweener. As far as "enforcer LBer", I'm talking a tough, strong, sure tackling LBer. These are not difficult concepts. In addition to "Football for Idiots" find a book like "Understanding English". You are presenting yourself like a damn fool!

Baker and Kelly must be satisfied or confident in the outside backers we have, or this move would not have been announced. It also may be to help the interior D-Line who may not have the needed depth going into the season.

Perkins is too small to play ILB. That was emphasized over and over. Our lack of pressure on opposing QB's was the direct result of Perkins misuse.

The key is to not let offenses take him out of the play by having him on the outside. He can play OLB, but he needs to have the chance to impact every snap. He can pass rush from the inside like Devin White did on pass plays. He already has sideline to sideline speed. The key will be getting big bodies in the middle to prevent them from getting to the 2nd level. Also, in a 3-4 scheme that may be less of and issue as there are 2 ILBs.
