Amazing to me that people keep thinking ILB means Mike. In 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 alignments there is a Will backer that is still considered an inside backer because he will never walk out over a slot like a will backer in a traditional 4-3 would at times. Will backer is also a very easy position to blitz from as well as spy.

No, I was one of the first ones here to dispute that Perkins was being misused. LSU quit rushing Perkins in his 2nd season because it flat out wasn't working as it did his FR season for the reason I have described. Your "facts" don't match what has occurred on the football field. Apparently, you believe 100% of the blame lies at the feet of the previous LSU defensive coaches. That is utter nonsense. Missed tackles are on the players...not working hard enough to become stronger is on the player that doesn't work to achieve that goal. Once again, the coaches are to blame for certain things with the main one being why did the opponents move the ball at will in the first half and get slowed down in the second half. That sounds like lack of preparation to me.

He had 4 sacks as a true freshman who didn’t become a regular contributor until halfway through the season.

And he had just as many from the spy.

In his new role last year, he only had 4 more total tackles than he did as a part time contributor as a freshman.

I think thats a lot of coaching. He wasn't coached well in LB play. That should change this year. Baker has done well with LBs.

Did you say the same thing when Curley was here?

If I have to hear “there are adults in charge” one more time…

Didn’t put a spy on Milroe. BK should’ve stepped in.

As for Perk though, I get putting his career first. It’s a big selling point why kids go to LSU, to make it at the next level.

He didn't win that game off the edge. He won that game spying from the stack linebacker position

After reading that CBK said our players last year were poorly taught and often didn't know what to do. I believe HP was often confused which made everyone on defense often confused. Our new DC actually recruited HP and knows his skills well, and I have faith he will utilize HP correctly and effectively, making everyone on defense better. I think our LB coaching will be so much better that our entire defense will be light years better.

Perkins will not be able to play at edge in the NFL. He’s gotta develop at ILB. LSU needs to find ways he can use his ability at that position.
