I'm not certain that we start Ack on Sunday. His conditioning hasn't been built up all year like Skenes and Floyd's has. But what else can you do? I guess he's the only real option but I would be happy with 3 innings from him

I don't want to see Coleman. We were really lucky that game didn't get out of hand early.

Herring could be the other option to start. But I really believe it will be Ack.

I think Johnson wants to save Herring to do what he did last time, be a bridge to the back end of the bullpen.

So actually I would not be surprised to see Ack start and Herring pitch whatever middle innings are necessary.

Skenes closes out game three. Tigers win 7-5.

I am just imagining Skenes dreaming about the crowd reaction he'll get when he starts walking out to the pen in the middle of Monday's game.

Playing this out. Yes we’d like to win Saturday and Sunday but we know one of those is going to be Floyd and the other Johnny wholestaff.

Seems like we’d be better off resting Floyd another day and going with Wholestaff on Saturday. That let’s us start Ack on Monday as well so Skenes can come in around the 5th.

Go with Money, Cooper, Guidry on Saturday.

Floyd, Coleman, Herring on Sunday.

Ack, Skenes, Hurd on Monday.

Not a troll….are Little, Dutton, and Collins available if needed?
think Jay said we had 12 arms available for the tourney. OP has 9 on his spreadsheet so i would guess the 3 you are asking are the rest of the 12

Man... That is a lot of pitchers that need rest. If Floyd doesn't last on Saturday it could get ugly.

Clearly our best course of action is to delay Saturday's game. Someone needs to make some lightening.

If we go Monday..it will be Skenes again! That is only if he doesnt pull spot duty on Sunday after win on Saturday

Skenes is done other than possibly coming in to get out of a jam Sunday or Monday or to close game facing 3 batters Monday. Only way he starts or pitches more than 1- two thirds is if there is a rain delay and a game is somehow pushed back to Tuesday or Wednesday

G1
Floyd / cooper
G2
Ack/herring/guidry
G3(if nec)
Skenes/hurd

If we pull of game 1 and an inning or 2 to win in g2, Skenes/Hurd may come in to win a title!

Was just coming here to post about pitching status, and I think the OP was spot on about Money. Like it or not he could well be the key this weekend. He’s fresh and capable of giving us 3-4, maybe 5 good innings if (big if) the park continues to play like it has this week. We need him to step up like Ack, Herring, and others have.

It’s just a disgrace the way the tournament is set up.

When you get to a series between the last two teams, each should have rested staffs.

Skenes has got to pitch or there will forever be a giant asterisk.

Relief? Dude, Ack is starting on Sunday. He will be burned.

He pitched 6 innings and allowed 0 runs vs Tennessee last Tuesday. WTF are you talking about? That's 4 days rest.

I was going to post what blowmeauburn said. Between Sat-Sun, Floyd syarts one and Wholestaff for the other. Might as well give Floyd another day rest and go with Wholestaff, starting either Coleman or Money. Saturday.
If we get to Game 3, figure it out and maybe Skenes can give 30-40 pitches-same as a bullpen session.

Offensive lineup much better this go round.

That’s it in a nutshell. We will have to rake our way through this. The condition of Florida’s pitching is far superior to ours. When we decided to start Skenes against Wake we radically handicapped ourselves against Florida. But we would be home right now if we hadn’t, so at least we have a puncher’s chance.

We need 27 innings. Every regular pitcher on our staff will have to pitch a little longer than normal. And either Collins, Dutton or Little is going to have to have a surprise performance. The odds are long.

Ack has had two quality outings of about 70 pitches. He has to give us way more than 3 innings. EVERYONE has to stretch.

Even if CJJ has no intention of using him, sending Skenes to the pen in the fifth inning of a close game will be noticed by everyone and could cause Gator hitters to start pressing.
