I thought he’d be a sure thing in the majors. Dude couldn’t even bat his weight. Wasted first round pick for the Reds. One hell of a college player though.

He’s the reason why I feel in love with LSU baseball.

After we beat USC the first game, I knew for sure we were going to win it again.
Probably would have had the wind not switched and blown straight in for much of the later games.

If I recall, we were losing to Rice 4 -2 and they had the best closer in the nation in the game. He had not given up a HR all year and the wind was blowing hard in our face. Larson hit a three run bomb in the bottom of the 8th and the face of their coach in disbelief was priceless. If that swing doesn’t happen, we don’t win the WS.

If there wasn’t a big cold front in 98 World Series with the wind blowing in big time we win it all again

The Hawpe home run at 1:35 of this one is borderline erotic
That’s one of my favorite home run swings I can remember. The way he just slams the bat head into the ground and it stays upright for a split second, goosebumps

That’s how you do it “with class”.

Actually, seems more like you are juiced.

Near the end of the Larson HR vs Rice clip, you can hear the announcer say: "in at 92, out at 110." Not sure where he got the 92 from. The pitch was a breaking ball which the radar showed 83.

That camera angle behind the catcher would be amazing in 4k.

Wow. That sounds like a blatant personal attack. Please tell us why you think this. Like, well, did his hat size grow and then return to a more normal (in your eyes) size?
Alright. Look---don't even respond. Just go back and stare at your soccer participation trophies from elementary school. And the pristine white shin guards you wore for both 5th and 6th grade seasons. God, you must be soooo proud!
And now you just wear those custom made knee pads with the logo of the porn theater where you ply your trade. Oh well, at least each and every one of your customers gives you a trophy for participating!
Gee...it turns out you are the one who gets juiced!

Even with 2021 balls and bats, I’d say Brandon would have hit 26-30 this season. He was so good.
And two or three of his teammates hit 20-25+ in 1997. Indeed, every single player on the team hit at least one homer and LSU hit at least one homer in every game. All records of some sort.
1996, 97, 98 and 99 were all magical. What a ride.
And didn’t Brad Cresse come right up behind him and smash a ton of homers.

I was sitting in the upper grandstand behind home plate the night LSU played Rice. When Rice brought in their reliever to face Larson the guy sitting in front of me turned around and said this pitcher hasn’t given up a home run all year and this game is over. I said well he better not throw it over the plate because if he does you won’t see the ball come down. One of my best memories of going to Rosenblatt was the look on the guy’s face sitting in front of me when Larson blasted the ball over the left field wall.

Yeah if you watch OPs link it was a 2 run HR to tie the game

0/10 not funny, didn’t laugh :/

I was stationed at Fort Benning, GA and I was able to watch LSU play in the 1997 SEC championship game held in Columbus, GA. LSU lost to Alabama in the SEC tournament finals that year….LSU won the only game that mattered that year!

Larson hitting .381 with 40 bombs and 118 RBI is the most underrated and least talked about historic season in LSU sports history.
Ya think he was using rhoids? Just asking for a friend.
