Why so much hate??? Oh I see Peyton didn't come to LSU and you are still mad about it....
He's a big dick. The LSU thing? Sure, I hate that he left LA for an SEC school other than the school his dad starred at.
I couldn't care less about those who turned their backs on LA. (although I did bang Cooper's gf/fiance one evening)

There was another position on Harris. It was, if you want to start him at Auburn, you have to start him against NMST.
They didn't want to start Harris. They were compelled to start him when Jennings turned it over 3 times against New Mexico State while Harris led the team to TDs on all 7 of his drives, throwing 3 TDs and running for 2 himself.

Anyone could have seen it coming.
This is so wrong for so many reasons. First, there was a VERY, VERY strong consensus that Harris needed to start. There wasn't much debating going on that week. There was concern that Miles wouldn't do the obviously right thing prior to naming Harris the starter. To deny this is delusional. People were very optimistic at that point despite his youth and inexperience. Nobody expected him to melt down to the level that he did.
Second, even if you make the case that it should have been expected, what do you think a reasonable expectation would have been for Jennings who just melted down against NMSU at home? The guy had < 50% passing percentage 3 of the 5 games before that and his confidence was shot. Everything is relative.
The staff reasonably thought that a scaled back passing game with Harris at the helm was probably the best option given what they had seen up to that point. That was a very reasonable decision, IMO.

He seems like a very intelligent kid in every interview I have seen of him.
The ability to speak, discuss current events, do complicated math etc does not always translate to memorizing plays and signals, reads, and reactions.

We averaged over 7 ypc on 1st down rushes in the first half...

Here's the problem with playing Harris all year not knowing what the hell he's doing. You can easily get a great talented player hurt badly real quick!! They would have targeted him more and more. A coach should never do put a kid in that position and I know Les Miles wouldn't unless he had zero choice. Then if Harris would have gotten hurt how would that look for future recruits as Les is talking to their moms promising to have their best interests? No I don't blame the coaches for not playing him the rest of the year. Then if you play both then niether would have gotten enough time to really improve, and possibly hurt them both.

I'm not sure how that is responsive. Bottomline was if you didn't start him at NMST, you don't start him his first game at the toughest western road venue.

Is there a team in college football that runs a scheme that protects its QB more than LSU?

What is the deal with everyone saying he has trouble with the playbook? Is this just the rant talking out their arse or is their some evidence of this?
No more excuses this season. Time to put up or shut up. SOGOTP!

Any college player who is there was invited and is there to serve as a counselor, not an attendee.

It is the same ole line used to defend the coaches decision to play a player who is not as talented. This has been going on for years. Last year a slightly different version was that Welter could line up the players. Now Beckwith is a star player
We have no idea why coaches start who they start but not knowing the plays is totally different than getting behind the center and being nervous or confused with the defense.
To me the staff feels more comfortable with Jennings because he is calm running the team, his problem is throwing the football or finding receivers and making the quick and right decision. Every fan on the board and every LSU coach can see Harris has a better arm and can run faster.
Harris is smart, Harris has great talent and he knows the play book. Harris needs game experience and McNeese will be a great learning game and we follow with two very tough games with Miss St and Auburn.
If Harris can play good the first 3 games then we will be fine.
Jennings will get reinstated and if Harris struggles against Miss St or Auburn then Les will pull Harris and Jennings will take over.
My hope for LSU is that Harris plays well as he is our best bet to win a BCS title. Solid QB play is needed to rise to the top and win the big game.

Gunner Kiel is there and Les Miles didn't want Brandon Harris around people who don't necessarily have the chest to lead a program.
