His catching skills left a lot to be desired and I had no interest in seeing him return there.
And he was given a chance to produce elsewhere, so there really can't be regrets on either side.
But I am surprised by the reactions of some here that would lead me to believe Neal wasn't the best teammate or that something happened between he and the staff, even possibly parent involvement
And that's all just my suppositions

modern college athletics suck so bad
What team these guys play for doesn’t matter anymore for like 50% of the players that are chasing a check so it’s basically semi pro league which is garbage.

That is a perfect place for travel ball Brady. I didn’t like his attitude at the plate and he definitely loafed to first on more than one occasion. He does have a lot of ability and may end up being a really good player when he matures a little.
I am surprised he left after all the opportunities JJ gave him this season. It was obvious Jay was a big fan which makes me think leaving was Neal’s decision. I could be wrong though.

Nothing was more frustrating than seeing that. That made me sick seeing him do that because it happened nearly every at bat. It’s ok to do that if you pop up every now and then. But when you do it 9 out of every 10 at bats, quit bitching and acting like you are surprised and make a damn adjustment.

It's impossible to fix something if you don't acknowledge it is a problem.
The kid thinks he's better than he is. He needs to humble himself...and work on fixing his issues. He has plenty enough talent if he does that.

Brady Neal to Bama
Nothing but ill wishes.

Dude is going to come after us and make us regret what we did to him.
What did we do? Give him plenty of playing time only to watch him suck it up at the plate and behind it?

He really isn’t a great catcher. He was a more dynamic hitter than Milazzo but not even close defensively.

goes from winning a NC to like the 10th best SEC program
Winning that NC is probably what helped make the decision to leave. Already checked that box, now he just wants to play. I think we fans sometimes forget that baseball players actually like to...ya know...play baseball. And there was no guarantee that he would play much more here next year than he did this year. And I doubt that anybody was throwing a big bag at him to stay. Bama probably gives him a little money, promises him more playing time than Jay can, and he gets to stay in the SEC, a little closer to where he's from, and he gets to try to turn himself into a draftable player this time next year.
I don't begrudge him. Seems like a good kid, played a big role early on a team that would go on to win the CWS as a 17-year-old who should have been a SR in high school. Then had some unfortunate injury luck. I wish him well.

Man, tough crowd.
Dude's 18. It's not football. We took 2 guys from Bama last year. Our baseball teams are not hated rivals. I just can't find enough fricks to give in my 40s to hate on 18-year-old Brady fricking Neal.

Although I will say, I’m cool with us getting Holman and then sending back Neal the next season as payment.

I understand where you're coming from but Neal is not 18, he's 19 years 8 months, will be 20 when next season is played

Absolute case study with him and little that it’s a mistake to reclass up
We gave him every chance possible, shite Jay tried him all over.
