LSU is essentially eliminated from a New Years Six bowl... so what bowl game is next in line for preference and likelihood? Preferred opponent?

Possible bowls: Citrus, Outback, maybe Texas or TaxSlayed

Possible opponents: Notre Dame, Michigan State, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina State, etc.

I would prefer the citrus bowl vs Notre Dame but I'm seeing lots of people pick South Carolina for that bowl. Why would an 8-4 SC team get chosen for the Citrus Bowl rather than a 9-3 LSU team?

Outback only if it's against Michigan

Music City if it's against anyone else.

Outback or Citrus vs. Notre Dame

(Then get ready to welcome Notre Dame to Alex Box Stadium to open the 2018 baseball season on February 16! )

This. Meeeechigan somewhere, 2 of CFB all-time great programs playing for 1st time ever.

Second choice: Texass somewhere, pay those fools back for what they did to little Saban in the 2003 Cotton Bowl.

Because LSU was just there last year, and South Carolina would most definitely travel better than LSU would going to the same bowl game 2 years in a row.

Prefer the bowl game with a primetime tv slot.

Recruits have divided interest in the day bowls.

Probably the Outback. Most likely the Citrus does not want a team two consecutive years plus I believe the Saints play Tampa Bay on the 31st. Would not be a bad double header. Notre Dame would be my choice of opponent with Michigan being a close second.

I hope we play a ranked team. Hopefully even ranked ahead of us.

I’d love to play Michigan one day. One day when they are good.

But what good is playing an unranked team?

Michigan is straight garbage on the field. They are 0-4 against teams with winning records. That would be an easy win for LSU.

LSU is not playing in the Cotton Bowl.

ND is not playing in the Outback Bowl, the tie-in is SEC and B1G only.

Best scenario: LSU vs ND in the Citrus

Most Likely: LSU vs MSU in the Outback

Then who will play in the Cotton Bowl?

Auburn - Georgia winner goes to CFP.

Bama goes to a New Years 6.

Georgia would be next in line (assuming they lose to Auburn.

We are the next highest ranked team in the SEC, and 4th overall behind Auburn, Georgia and Alabama.

The SEC is not tied to the Cotton; no conference is. At-large teams only to be selected by the Selection Committee. LSU is just not ranked high enough for the Cotton; too many other teams for the committee to select.

Bama is just about locked into the Orange Bowl, unless they find a way into the CFP.
