Who is responsible for the teams preparation both physically and mentally?

I completely agree with that aspect but coaches battle this all the time. It's very rare to see a coaching staff downplay an opponent or show a lack of respect.

LSU was opening the season cold, with new OC and DC (and our HC doesn't contribute, so there's no continuity), coming off a 5-5 season. We had zero reason to be expecting the game to be a cakewalk.

The players certainly share the responsibility. You can't put all the blame for your mental and emotional preparation on the coaches, though some coaches are better at it than others. See: Saban, Nick.

The coaches didn't either?
obviously. Did you watch the game? LSU hasn’t been dominated in the trenches like that since bama in the championship game. No halftime adjustments were made to the terrible gameplan. It was obvious the coaches over looked UCLA and the team wasn’t prepared at all

Read it again. Players can read and everyone on TD were already giving us a 17+ point win vs an overmatched opponent.

If they hear it enough, they begin to believe it themselves and overlook the opponent.

TD does not set the tone in the locker room for an opponent. No matter what any of us say here, it means absolutely nothing. Overlooking an opponent is strictly a coaching and player issue.

It wasn’t a trap game, and it has little to do with respect

We just aren’t that good

Most fans were running their mouths about how we were gonna kill them and I couldn't understand it based on our pathetic performance the year before and most of UCLA's losses were 3-4 pts

There’s a culture issue problem inside the program.

This is what had me worried going into last season. And that was before social justice, covid etc

Not enough true leadership outside Anthony and maybe Deculus

That's great. We as fans suck at predicting our own team's performance. Now that's out of the way.

WTF does that have to do with how the team preps within their own facilities for a power 5 opponent.

That’s where your players only meetings and captains, team leaders, etc come in. Evidently we don’t have that either. To be fair though the coaches did a horrible job with game plan and in game adjustments as well. All around sh$t show of epic proportions.
