The idea that college athletics has ever been devoid of political influence is patently absurd.
This is correct. The issue isn't that there is political influence, it's the type of political influence they don't like.

It seems like the SEC is being run by prepubescent girls right now. They are doing things and saying things, and hoping that it gets ignored. Then, give it a day, and the media finds out about it, or reports it, everyone gets in an uproar, and the SEC then backs down. The "vote" that was supposed to happen today is a prime example.
These dipshits, 5 days ago, had a letter from LSU saying they weren't admitting the players. The SEC tards then proceed to have a vote to kick LSU out of the conference. Then, 2 days ago, we find out abut the letter from 5 days ago, and yesterday the SEC or "the court" continues the lawsuit and the vote doesn't happen.
The SEC appears to be comprised of the same geniuses that run the NCAA. They are NOT prepared for the upcoming fights, and every time they back down from their threats it proves it.

Asserting that the governor is too involved with the university is enough to get any lawsuit against us thrown out.
Our lawyers will simply argue that no other entity has any right to dictate how Louisiana operates its educational system.
Im starting to think these University Presidents are worried that our governor being so involved with university matters that it might give their governors the notion to do the same.
They don't want someone overlooking their actions and losing the power they currently weild.

Why do they seem surprised that LSU selfishly acts in their best interests. Just like all of them do. We didn't hear a peep when Alabama as a school stayed in lockstep to make sure Saban had every resource he needed/wanted while dominating college football. There was plenty of lines he toed yet that was just considered genius.

LSU feels the SEC is impossible to deal with for ignoring Bedaiko, Hutson, Chambliss, Freeze and his hookers, Heupel calling for bodily harm to Lane, and threatening expulsion over following the rules.

Landry has done a lot of curious and tone deaf things but in this case he has been almost restrained relatively speaking, so I don't see the problem.

Meanwhile, the SEC's headquarters has been located in Birmingham Alabama for almost 80 years and everyone in the conference is supposed to feel okay with that.
