depends...do you put more weight into private business experience or academic admin experience?
Okay. You're going to have to help me out here. According to his Linkedin he was a Managing Partner at Sea and Sea Marine (a company that I can't find any information on) for 11 years and President of CCM Alternative Investments (another company that I can't find any information on) for 5 years.

I agree with your overall point, but I kinda disagree here.
You need educated people to stay put in the state to start voting in their best interest. A quarter of the people in this state have a bachelors degree. That's 4th lowest in the country.
If your interest is the state of Louisiana, maybe switching gears and focusing first and foremost on how to keep educated people in the state, which the president has the ability to do by way of working with employers, organizations, etc. maybe that is what needed. Maybe then you see people stick around and you see civic engagement go up, which, in theory, should create a feedback loop.

no i dont. Im all for getting a traditional liberal education. but that cant be the main emphasis for a school like LSU because we do not succeed in that and those are not really viable fields in this state.
im not saying you get rid of the liberal arts departments at all.
im saying emphasis what you are good at and build those to new heights to bring up the overall university. the whole...rising tides philosophy.

Rousse spent 11 years with Sea and Sea Marine, first as a blue-collar laborer cleaning toilets and washing dishes and eventually, and quite impressively, as a partner, equity owner and vice president of operations. A remarkable ascent up the company ladder which he humbly credits to “luck.”
In 2002, Rousse graduated from the University of New Orleans with a master’s in finance. It took him eight years of night study to get his degree while working for the company. “It was because that coach wouldn’t let me stop,” he says. “I was going to quit and work offshore. That’s what all my friends were doing. I’m thankful to this day for him.”
Sea and Sea Marine was sold in 2003. “We got lucky,” he says. “For the first time in my life I could do anything I wanted to do. I didn’t need to worry about where my next meal was going to come from.”

he started as a laborer while at nicholes at Sea and Sea and worked his way up to partner...they built it and then sold it.
CCM alternative investments was bought out. not sure by who but was similar, he built it up and sold....at least from my understanding.
but people are saying...hey a guy who build 2 business and sold them, worked for the federal reserve, was a professor, became dean of a business school then over saw an extremely successful turn around of a university as the president at mcneese....yea he isnt qualified at all.

Liberal Arts education does not mean researched-based programs.

waiting for Saban to arrive so he can make the announcement of who he’s picked

As opposed to degree factories and liberal ideology agendas?
You’ve set up a false dichotomy between a trade school and a degree factory/liberal indoctrination camp. There is a vision of education that is superior to both of those things, and the university should be led by someone with such a vision.
Im fine with people in trade wanting the university to be useful by producing people who can work in trade. That’s part of the purpose. It just doesn’t make sense to me to put one of those people in charge of the university.
I’d rather smaller universities and bigger trade schools, if that’s all we are worried about.
That said, this follow up from LSU777 is fair and sensible:

Awesome. Hiring a janitor as our new system president.
Basically have the same structure as John Curtis. Cool.

The first vote is for either scrying (crystal ball) or osteomancy (tossing chicken bones, for example).
Only then do we see the true murky sludge of the search pupa reveal itself to be the magnificent candidate butterfly.

When do we find out if Dalton is chancellor?
Posted on 11/4/25 at 11:55 am to cajuntiger1010
prolly not right away.
Posted on 11/4/25 at 12:00 pm to lsu777
Did they speak to the structure of leadership on the video ?

thats fine but that is not what 99% of the undergrad students care about or even know anything about. want to get LSU back on track from an academic standpoint? it starts with the emphasis of admission standards and brining back the act requirement. then it moves to funding and emphasis in both the teaching and research side of the areas we do well in like engineering and other stem departments. you drive enrollment through athletics, the student experience. all you have to do is do exactly what Alabama did when saban was there. use athletics, greek life and overall student experience to recruit better students and go out and fund raise which, along with financial stability, will be Rouse's main objectives.
You are treating this like he is the chancellor of LSU and not the president of the LSU system.
The system has two health sciences centers.
It has Pennington biomedical research center.
The money for the system that CAN roll in because of research dwarfs any undergrad Baton Rouge enrollment.
It should be Dalton president rousse chancellor.

He didn't "build two businesses," he worked for two companies that got sold. Those are two different things.
I know you love to fan boy for everything Lake Charles, but at least try to be intellectually honest.
