Wrong. He's the same loser he was before 2019 without Joe Burrow, two elite coordinators, and 10 first and second day draft picks. He was never a good coach.

Booger = bad TV. Maybe should try this quotes in the print media route. Might go better.

Of the LSU personalities on TV: Spears likable and good. I’ll never get why Clark is popular.. don’t like him. And Booger was always most boring. Zzzzzz

I don’t think Booger has room to criticize anyone’s job performance after flaming out on Monday night football.

Are you talking about his gaffs? or something else? Did I miss a scandal?

Plenty of coaches with bravado and ego do just fine.
O's bravado and ego is to be irate and think that will make the team and coaches be better.
quote:

IMO, O’s failing was a philosophical one. The idea that you can bring in a guy who has little experience actually coaching either side of the ball to “oversea the program” and hire great assistants, analysts and admin to make sure everything runs at a high level is a myth.

Dabo Swinney and Les Miles to name a few. I know you'll say, Les Miles wasn't great, but for 9 years LSU was a top 10 program. Seven 10+ win seasons, 5 top 8 finishes, two national championship appearances, 2 SEC champ appearances, 1 national title. He tapered off after but LSU was genuinely known as a top program. Les could have easily still been coaching here had it not been for his arrogance in his offensive philosophy
quote:

O certainly has his character flaws, but the idea of the “CEO coach” is what failed here
The worst thing he has done is let you believe that a CEO coach can't do well. Being a CEO is all about hiring the best guys for the job. LSU was willing to pay top dollar so if a guy left, it would only be for a HC gig. There were plenty of coordinators for Ed to choose from, but because he didn't want to lose that damn 4-3, AND was addicted to the "Brady offense", he destroyed himself. Lebby at Ole Miss was right there, Derek Mason was right there. I wanted and screamed for both of those guys, but idiots on here "I don't want Mason, look at what he did as a head coach. I don't want Lebby, Kiffin is calling the plays".

People here didn't want this RE: Lebby

quote:

After the injury ended his playing career, he switched to coaching and stayed at Oklahoma as a student assistant.[3] At Oklahoma, he would meet then-Oklahoma quarterback and future boss Josh Heupel. He left Oklahoma to coach the offensive line and tight ends at Victoria High School (Texas). He came back to the collegiate ranks in 2008, and served various roles for Baylor across nine seasons. Since 2012, he has coached five 1,000-yard rushers.[4]

He got his first coordinator opportunity at Southeastern, an NAIA school in Florida. He left Southeastern for UCF as their quarterbacks coach, reuniting with Josh Heupel. Under his guidance, quarterback McKenzie Milton was 7th in yards per attempt and 9th in passing efficiency rating.[5] He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019. His offense ranked 5th in total offense and true freshman quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw for 3,653 yards and 29 touchdowns.[6]

On December 11, 2019, Lebby was hired by Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss to serve in the same role as he did at UCF.[7] In his first season with the Rebels, Lebby's offense ranked seventh in total offense.[8]

RE: Mason

quote:

After a disappointing first season in Nashville, Mason fired both his offensive and defensive coordinators. He hired Andy Ludwig, formerly the offensive coordinator at Wisconsin, to run the offense. Mason decided to call the defensive plays himself.

His second season saw moderate growth for Vanderbilt, culminating in a 4–8 record with numerous firsts for the young head coach. Mason earned his first win against an SEC opponent (against Missouri) and his first win while on the road (at Middle Tennessee State University). The team was praised for a nationally respected defensive scheme, but the Commodores were unable to perform equally well with their offensive or special team capabilities.[5]

If he had made those two hires, I promise you, I PROMISE YOU, LSU would be undefeated right now, and he'd be praised as a great CEO coach.

I'm not sure I agree that staying is the most important part. I'd rather get to the top than never get there.

That’s what separates Saban from all other coaches. He never loses the motivation or the drive from year to year. It’s unbelievable, and it’s one of the biggest reasons that he’s the GOAT.

I read some article after bama won yet another NC about how Saban calls all the Juniors in and asks what their intentions are the night of the game. It also said he's on the horn with recruits wanting to know their intentions as well. I'd link it but I'm lazy. I just believe it because that's who he is.

Taking a shot at O here, but I seriously doubt continuity was anywhere at the forefront of his thought process on 1/13/20.

I have been knowing Bebe since our college days. What he did after 2019 was spot on with his personality. He absolutely loves the spot light and loves poon tang. But, then again, who doesn't? I was not surprised but anything that has transpired the last couple of years. His South Lafourche background really took over!

Yeah forget hiring with no experience. Hire someone with the experience Joe Brady had and pay him the same millions he made when he was coaching in 2019.

He’s not doing a very good job, then. LSU has had it’s best run in history while Saban coached Bama. Three SEC championships and two national championships in 15 years.

Booger is wrong messenger based upon his job performance

Booger's performance on a football program is in no way comparable to someone's performance as the head coach of a football team. Nor should that performance, good or bad, be a determining factor on his commentary.

I find it ironic that many who probably lauded his negative commentary at the end of the Miles era now have an issue with him. As fans, we have a right to wear the P&G glasses. As a sports commentator, he should do his best not to do that. In this case, in particular, he is not saying anything that is not true, IMO.

There is a reason Saban coined the phrase "catastrophe syndrome" to describe the attitude of LSU fans.
What is that even supposed to mean especially coming from Saban? He was supported by almost all during his time here. So where does he come up with that from? We have been in an up and down REALITY not a syndrome since he exited LSU. It is a reality. Two weak character Coaches followed him to LSU , they won NC Titles and then they fell back down to earth and got fired... That is REALITY.

We don’t need any more chiming in about Coach O. He has been buried so why they want to keep digging him up. Let the man rest in peace

He is lucky that Woodward didn't go after him, but Woody keeps the emotion out of such things.

Can one disagree with what Booger says? I do not. I think he is fairly evenhanded about things. He cares about LSU, but so far as I can tell he sticks to the facts. I agree that Orgeron's immaturity was unable to handle success upon which to build a consistently contending football program.
