LOL he's right about everything he said. And as far as his success is concerned, he's done pretty damn good. He's a product of rural Louisiana public schools, was successful in the NFL, and is paid good money by ESPN to provide commentary on national TV. What's your story?

the idea of the “CEO coach” is what failed here.
It's the complete opposite of what you just said that was the failing. Ed was supposed to be the CEO, one who took a lower salary in order to get the best coordinators money could buy while overseeing things. That worked!

Then they won ("That worked!"), Ed got a huge raise and we had the worst coordinators in that they had no experience at the position.

He's just being foolish. He's saying because Booger failed as a game broadcaster means he can't comment on O's failing.

Just because Booger was not a great broadcaster does not mean he hasn't been successful a TV personality.

It “worked” for one year…that’s a pretty small sample size to base your opinion on.

Outside of that, it was a mess. He brought in Canada (before he got paid), that didn’t work. He brought in Brady (who wasn’t even the OC…think about that for a sec) which worked great, then when Brady predictably left, he absolutely could not find another great OC. Similar with DCs after Aranda left.

He made one great hire (again, not even the OC) and outside of that his hires were meh at best, catastrophic at worst.

Obviously Ed doesn’t know how to be a CEO coach, but can you point to someone who is? The most successful coaches have deep knowledge of at least a few aspects of the game. They’re not just out there being project managers.

It's not our fault that Saban left. It's his ego. He figured he would rule the NFL and he didn't. It's our bad luck he landed where he did. Obviously, hindsight would have preferred that he stayed in the NFL or gone somewhere useless like Michigan or USC.

O was always the same. What changed was Aranda and then soon Ensminger wasn’t around to make Orgeron look competent.

Yup. And he crapped on Dave whenever he could. Unlike when A&M tried to poach Aranda after 2017, Orgeron thought he didn't need Aranda any longer. He thought he all of this figured out.

One more point about the CEO model…Saban isn’t out there trying to find hotshot OCs and DCs…his process creates them.

Kirby Smart, Dantonio, Jimbo, Napier, etc…none of these guys were considered stars until they coached under Saban.

We need a coach who can create great coordinators, not a coach who has to go out and find them.

Getting to the top is easier than staying on the top.

The guy had a binder on the former and not the latter. Staying is the more important part.

The fact that we have played in 3 and won 2 while he has been at Alabama says otherwise. Half of our national championships that we claim all time occurred while he has been an opponent in the sec west. And the irony is we might not have any of the 3 this century without him.

Booger is right, and the warning signs were everywhere (e.g. selfies in bed with some random woman, the mysterious divorce, etc.) and most of us wanted to ignore them because we love LSU and always want to only see the good.

I will admit, the divorce should have been a huge red flag and I was among the vast majority of LSU fans who didn't see it. After all, we were riding the highest of highs at the time.

However, everyone who became aware of the selfie in bed with the blond knew it was a red flag.

"always want to only see the good"? Not my experience. There is a reason Saban coined the phrase "catastrophe syndrome" to describe the attitude of LSU fans.

He is not wrong. Sometimes the truth hurts. Booger was one of the main men leading the way for Coach O to get the job.
