We lost to KY on the road, not ULM in Bryant-Denny in Year 1. A little perspective is lost among most here.

Year 1 for OM and KY coaches too.

They seem to have it together.

Ill give you KY...to an extent. Lets see how the season plays out. LSU is there best win so far. OM was rolling and they have the best QB in CFB. Still they have not exactly looked sharp except against mighty Vanderbilt. Florida has looked great for one game with their new HC. Auburn 3-2 looks terrible, Michigan 3-2 looks terrible, Penn State 3-3 looks terrible, Arkansas obviously terrible.

The same Clemson who is dog shite this year?

Same with Tamu.

Im being honest and truthful. They aren’t good this year. At the moment neither are we.

You hired Lane because he's been good in the transfer era of assembling rosters largely comprised of transfers, winning with them immediately, then doing it all over again. Now we have the "it's year 1" excuse?

I love how you ignore that Lane is also a perfect example of the volatility of the portal.

2022- he snags a high profile portal class and it doesn’t work. They go from 10-2 to 8-4 because Dart isn’t ready for the starting QB role and multiple guys who had great portal rankings either never panned out or took a year before making a real impact.

That last bit is KEY for Lane’s success at OM. Look at Dart’s progression year over year. Lane didn’t just bring in a ton of 1-year rentals. He brings in guys who have 2-3 years to play and keeps them. He never had a revolving door. He built stability on that roster. Look at his first class here- most of our portal players have more years to play.

2024- this was the year Lane was supposed to make the playoff. Remember when they spent huge in the portal to shore up their defense? The defense that let them down at the end of 2 of their losses that kept them out of the playoffs. They also let Judkins walk over NIL and tried to replace him in the portal and it didn’t work at all. That lack of a consistent running game held them back just enough.

Lane has had more consistent success leveraging the portal as anyone in college football. But he’s also proof of two things- the portal will always be a far more expensive path and it is just as volatile as high school recruiting, especially at volume.

Truth my arse. You are setting up strawman arguments to pump your chosen narrative.

And yet his best team was one with a first time D-1 starting QB, a new RB, new top 3 wrs, multiple OL and defensive players. The point being that it's not unreasonable to expect a CFP appearance in year 1 because you have a HC that did it last year with numerous key players in their 1st year at the school.

Failing to make the CFP this year as reason to fire Kiffin is an absurd opinion. But it is also silly to think having such success requires a multi year process. It doesn't.
