Baker is very good outside of defending the QB run game. It’s his kryptonite. Mateer could have a field day next week.

This is an example of a stupid take. You expect Baker’s defense to stop every team every drive. Outrageous.

Dude gave up 3 points and you’re attempting to use that to knock him.

Pure insanity

it doesn’t work well when the AD insists on any staff hires

For the life of me, I cannot understand any organization that hires a head coach, and then has the front office hire his assistants and/or draft his players.

Just a recipe for disaster.

WKU dropped passs that would’ve resulted in touchdowns. Baker is a one trick pony talent prevailed last night.

I'm hoping Baker, Kyle Williams, and Corey Raymond stay at a minimum

This is all facts. Jacques laid it out plain:

- LSU had 6 INTs in 2024 ? 14 this year

- 15 sacks in 2024 ? 25 this year

- Opponents’ 3rd-down conversions: 41% ? 34%

That’s not luck. That’s coaching, development, and culture.

Let's revisit this thread next week after we play a team with good talent.
LSU led Arkansas to its 2nd lowest yards and points total. Arkansas is a top 20 offense and just scored 37 on Texas. One of 3 teams to hold them under 31. LSU's defense has had TWO bad games all year. But we were without 2 of our top 5 players on defense and that was a dramatic difference.

We have definitely improved at stopping mediocre or worse offenses compared to when he got here. Maybe in 2 more years and 20-30 million more NIL dollars we'll be able to consistently stop good offenses.

With a competent offense, we had a championship caliber defense

Turning point in the season was the second half of Ole Miss. Baker was out coached by Weiss Jr. The offense had just had its best drive of the season. We were ahead in time of possession when OM started their last to drive of the game, so claiming the defense was tired is not objectively supported.

We cannot claim to have a championship caliber defense if we cannot stop a mobile QB. The defense has been elite the last couple of weeks, no question about that. Baker has progressed to be a very good DC. There is still a room for improvement on scheming to stop a mobile QB, but that is really the only weakness.

I get your point, but in his “defense”, the offense failed to deliver multiple opportunities into touchdowns in that game, or any game for that matter.

My whole point is this: every week you have people blaming the defense for losing, when in reality they were the only reason for winning.

The defense cant do that in Norman next Saturday.

Talking about what the Defense can/can't do when our Offense quite literally may not score a point is WILD

I have no problem with the defensive side of the ball other than the mobile QB’s. With that said, it looks like a lot of those issues are players not in their proper spots or falling for eye candy.

He's average at best. Running QBs have completely embarrassed us over last two years and he has no clue how to slow them down. WKU embarrassed us also and so will Oklahoma!

Need a new DC - would love O as DC!

WKU dropped two walk in TD passes. Both guys were wide open. Game was ugly on all accounts

If they would have kicked 2 field goals they could’ve won 16-13!
